GG486 and isa video card
What would be the best video card for GG486? Yes I know this has nothing to do with Amiga and possible speed increase is close to zero. Current card is Ati 28800.

@Jakodemus
hmmm you know i think that the ATI 28800 is the best is the you can get, for ISA its upgradeable to 4MB isn't it? You could sell on the GG486 and get a modern ISA SBC in there that would be more advantagious! however you would have to network (SCSI/LAN) them together and invest in a KVM, unless you have one already. SBC (Single Board Computers) can go really cheap on ebay... I picked up an ROCKEY 772REV which is an AMD468 PICMG card.. (size of a big old full size ISA card) It has an XP2400 CPU, 1GB ECC Ram, AC97 with Sound Blaster EMU, 2 IDE, 1 CF, 32MB of 3D accelerated GFX , dual LAN, 4xUSB for £15 is pretty good... but the more you spend the better they get Last edited by Zetr0; 03 August 2008 at 14:46. |

@Zetr0
Yes, SBC would be faster, but I like to use old hardware. My Ati 28800 only has four KM44C256BJ-8 chips soldered onboard and no empty sockets. So, I guess that memory upgrade isn't possible. |
