TSGUI and other adf transfer programs question

Hi, i was wondering about these ADF image writing tools.

They write an image from a CF card onto a DD floppy so the Amiga can play games from that floppy correct?

Something that has puzzled me, is that do you put these image writing tools onto a floppy disk or onto the CF card itself?

If you had to put it onto a floppy disk, does that mean i need a PC that can write DD floppies? Sorry im just a little confused.

You can copy TSGui on your PCMCIA-CF bootdisk, your CF card or your Amiga HD/IDE-CF card.

Sorry to bring this up again, but Amigakit supply a Boot Disk with their PCMCIA transfer kit, i'm not sure if this boot disk is EasyADF or something else i need.

My question may have been answered in the 1st reply.

But i just wondered, is all i need to start writing to floppies a CF card, PCMCIA adaptor and some DD floppies, as well as ADF writing tools of course? Or will i need a bootdisk in order to get access to programs such as TSGUI and other adf writing tools on my CF?

The Boot Disk boots to a Wizard that sets up the CF card device and then runs EasyADF.

EasyADF is also a boot disk, you boot from the EasyADF Disk then it asks you to insert a Workbench Disk which it uses to boot into a Workbench enviroment with the Drivers for the CF PCMCIA Card.

You can then use the EasyADF software to make or write your ADF's this is by far the easiest way.

So all you need is:

An Amiga 600/1200
Blank Disks
EasyADF Floppy
Workbench Floppy
PCMCIA Card Reader
CF Card FAT formatted and filled with ADF's

Sorry I thought you asked if you need anything else other than the EasyADF Disk to write ADF's.

Yes there are other ways you can do it, but it seems like they might be a bit too complicated for you. EasyADF is about as simple as it gets but you could also:

Fit a CF-IDE Hard Drive inside you Amiga, boot a simple workbench from it with the CF PCMCIA Drivers installed and write ADF's, everything is freely available from Aminet.

You could also Boot into workbench via a Workbench Floppy and using an external Floppy Drive with another Disk that has the drivers/software from Aminet on to mount the CF and write ADFs.

You can make a Boot Disk from the tools/drivers on Aminet that does everything, which is essentailly what EasyADF is (although the software is their own)

I'm assuming you need a PC that can write DD floppies to do this?

I'm sure there is a way to use 720k Dos formatted Disks but thats outside my level of knowledge.

However your PC wont read or write 880k DD Disks without special hardware, otherwise we could just use the PC to write the ADF's and save all this trouble

If you do a search of EAB I'm sure someone here uploaded a boot disk they made themselves.

There was also a boot disk created that lets you boot from a Workbench on a CF card in the PCMCIA, have a search for that too.

You need a boot disk which contains drivers to access the CF card. Once you have access to the CF card you can load the ADF writing tool or anything else you need from the CF card.

The AmigaKit boot disk is probably the most convenient way to get such a disk. From the answers given here, I suppose that the CF transfer boot disk already contains EasyADF, you don't need to buy it additionally.
