Probably the better question would be can it last for 10 laps at full power

Heh, if it's like last year Hamilton will be lucky to finish the race!

Realistically though, I'd expect a few cars to drop out of the first few races due to some issue or another.

Looks like Hamilton and Alonso are paid pretty much the same (once you factor in Hamilton's bonuses, and some guesswork). I don't understand that... Hamilton has won the Drivers Championship 3 or 4 times and Alonso did it once or twice (unless I'm mistaken). Surely Alonso should be paid less than Hamilton??

I was more thinking about the Honda. I very much doubt Mercedes will have to run full power for anywhere near that long all season long

I think you should reserve judgement until you see them on an actual 2017 car, they will be more in proportion and not look so big.

I agree.

Formula 1 used to have wide tyres years ago (80s?), and wide wings. Then they made them smaller, and now they made them big again...

That's something I don't understand. They reduced the width to cut the corner speeds and make the races safer.

Are they making the tires wider again, because they don't care about the safety of the drivers anymore?

Advances in other areas of safety have obviously off set the difference.

But lets be clear here, Pirelli still make the tyres so I doubt 3 extra laps of high speed driving are going to cause that much of a safety risk.

I guess it's still making a difference if you hit a wall with 180kmh or 230kmh after an accident.

I think f1 has been safe enough for these speeds since kubica crashed at Canada.

Let's be real here, the cars are not going to be the fastest f1 cars ever, just faster than they have been for a while.
