AMIGA VS Genesis
As for AMIGA VS Genesis, they both had the same 68000@7.14 Mhz CPU (Genesis @ 7.61Mhz). The Genesis used a VDP (Video Display Processor) dedicated video display processor for playfield and sprite control, 3 Planes, 2 scrolling playfields 1 sprite. It could produce maximum 80 (32 x 32 size) sprites & a pixel resolution of 320 x 224, but I don't know the exact tech specs of the multiple OCS & ECS graphics chipsets found in most A500 to A3000 to compare them to this? The AMIGA had a larger resolution if I’m not mistaken. Also The Genesis had 64K VRAM & 64K general purpose RAM, where as the AMIGA had 512K – 1MB RAM but I don’t know about VRAM? Somebody can enlighten me on these... Genesis could show 64 colours on screen out of a 512 colour palette where as the AMIGA had 32 or 64 Half-Bright colours on screen out of a 4096 colour palette. Some AMIGA games that utilized huge sprites like Agony, Apidya, Project X, Disposable Hero, etc... I don't think were possible on the Geny. |

Bring on more stupid comparison
= Genesis sprites are bigger. Apidya etc. had sprites as small as pinheads, dunno what you are talking about. And in most caes, what you see as a huge boss sprite is just a bunch of sprites held together, every machine worked like this. = Genesis can shove more sprites onscreen than the Amiga without slowdown or flickering (more hardware prites) = Genesis can display 64 UNIQUE colors onscreen without much of a slowdown. Halfbrite is but a joke, and using copperlists to change the palette is not the same as having that same ammount of UNIQUE colours useable ANYWHRE on screen (all it can do decently is shading). This said before you claim garbage about Lionheart etc. = Both had almost the same resolution games-wise, the fact that the Amiga can display 320x512 or 640x512 doesn't mean that resolution is USEABLE by any game. = Last but not least the Genesis works in a tile-based manner, which is eons faster than the shitty Amiga bitmap mode. |

I don't really want to continue this discussion, but one thing: Never ever compare the amount of RAM of a disk based system to the RAM of a ROM based system. And: really really big bosses were not constructed out of multiple sprites - the boss was the background-layer.

yeesssss the x68000 .... that was one hell of a 68000 based machine... I would really love to grab one of these... IMHO it was better than the equivalent amigas.... it had perfect cps-1 conversions.... and cps-1... a great piece of h/w... everything done in hardware...

Hmm what do you reckon was better for input for a game like Street Fighter 2? the Mega Drive or the amiga?.
Ie With all 6 buttons working flawlessly ? What machine do you reckon it would be easier to pull Kens touch of Death on ? |

What machine do you reckon is better used as a doorstep? Genesis or Amiga? I think probably Amiga because it's larger and you can hold quite a weight there!!!! Genesis cannot handle a big door!!!!!
Also what machine do you reckon had the worse power button???? I think the Amiga's power button was great because it was out of reach and you couldn't accidentally flip it. The genesis just can't compete! The joystick question is easy: Amiga wins because one button is simpler to handle and Ken's touch of flaming homosexual death would be easier to pull off. Can somebody enlighten me as to which machine had the most strong plastic case? People say black plastic os more weak and Amiga fans used to sayd their machine was military spec. Amiga forever.! :P |

The audio chip(s) of Amiga were infinitely superior - and one thing that made the amy the outstanding machine it is, is the musics. The genesis couldn't go farther than a SHHHHRRREEEKKK SKKKRKREEEEEEAAAAAAKKKKKKKK for music

WRONG
The Genesis Yamaha FM chip is of OUTSTANDING quality, and I beg you to check Yuzo Koshiro's work on the machine before saying it's just "shrek shrek" (that's shrek²!). He worked on games like the Streets of Rage series. The Genesis couldn't do shit with samples (super low quality handled by the Z80), but the combo of YM2612+PSG+feeble Z80 was put to great use by lots of people. Comparing the two mahcines sound architechtures is quite far off since they work absolutely differently therefore deliver much different sound. |

No Geny can't touch AMIGA or SNES in music.
Actually Streets of Rage series, Thunder Force III - IV, Gaiares, Sonic 1 & 2, Gynoug, probably have the only good music on the Genesis which is the second worst in that department after the PC-Engine But your notes are funny |
