What, if anything, do the extra ROM sockets on the A1000 do?
If you look at the Amiga 1000's motherboard, just below the boot ROMs are two sets of empty holes where another pair of ROM sockets would go. I have a hunch- what would happen if someone split a 256K Kickstart into four 27C512(64KB) EPROMs and filled the four sockets with them? Has anyone ever tried this?

What Jay Miner said about jumpers works equally well when applied to sockets:
"Don't touch unknown [sockets], even if they are labeled free sex and beer" |

You do not have to remove the BootROMs though, they will recognise if a Kickstart ROM is present or not. |

Also: what happens to the Kickstart RAM? Does it turn into Fast RAM? |
