Most cost-effective RAM upgrade for A1200?
I've been using the Search option but I couldn't find the answer to this question. Basically, I saw on Amikit the only memory expansions available for A1200 are the bit pricey accelerators. What I'm interested in is a good old RAM expansion (4MB FAST RAM) for A1200 and how available is this for purchase?
I'm aware there are a quite few cost-effective choices for A500 and A600 (Kipper) but how obtainable are these for A1200? I'm not really bothered by the CPU speed rather having enough RAM to play most WHDLoad games. I already own A600 and could easily upgrade it with 4MB of RAM. I was just wondering how much of a fuss is finding these for A1200? I know there's Ebay but I'm not overly confident about buying there..but, if it's the only place.. Any input is apreaciated. Thank you. |

I don't think there are new 4/8 meg expansions out there right now. So it's either a modern, high-capacity one or a used one from AmiBay or Ebay.
The ACA1220 is more a RAM expansion than an accelerator; it needs to have a full 68020 in order to be able to have more than 8 megs of fast RAM. The onboard 020 only supports up to 8. |
