Cheers, Retro-Nerd. At least I didn't dream it!
Going to play both of them tonight (on my new GPD XD gaming tab) and post my vote! |

Silkworm! I wish it had more colours though. Amiga could have done much better than the arcade version.

Silkworm, because I played that one first basically. Awesome sound effects make this game.
I guess technically SWIV is the better game because it is a little more varied. Silkworm recycles too much. |

There are few missing options to the pool:
3. Both are equal 4. None of them/Do not like shooters. 5. Time to play one or both of them. (haven't played it yet) i would choose the 3rd. I have played both and liked both, and there is more fun in 2 players mode. Last edited by Dan; 21 January 2017 at 11:15. |

Silkworm definitively. The power up vessels of Swiv are a mess to destroy (same problem with robot characters in Ninja Warriors, it kinda ruins the game since the original coin-op version doesn't have this issue).

Have more nostalgic feelings for Silkworm.
Played that like crazy at a friends place a lot together with him, eating lots of sweets and drinking a couple of bottles of coke. SWIV i just foudn out about some years ago. Looks well made, but not that much fun somehown. Kind of dull color scheme. |

Well, ended up playing it on fs-uae on my mac...
I enjoyed them both, but, I have to say, SWIV slightly edged it for me. Don't know why - just had more fun with it. Nice to see the results panning out the way they did |

I'm not ashamed to say that I prefer SWIV by far, especially two player mode. Being the jeep in the original Silkworm was a bit shit, with the player pretty much stuck to the bottom of the screen with two players there would often be a little debate as to who had to suffer with the jeep. Where being the jeep/boat in SWIV was MUCH better, with almost as much maneuverability as the chopper and the ability to avoid a large number of player/enemy collisions, the debate as to who got to play the jeep often went the other way, with players wanting to be the jeep. Silkworm was an arcade conversion and stayed relatively true to the original format, where SWIV was made for home computers and consoles. The main aim of arcade games is to get the player pumping coins into the machine, where the main aim of computer games it to be fun to play, and I think that shows in the finished products.

He wanted the heli, I wanted the jeep, no fight here. I think the gameplay with the jeep is more fun and special, aiming the gun and jumping, while the gameplay with the heli is just like a lot of other shooters. To each his own... |

I think bosses in Silkworm should be more mobile, they are like in Agony, fire power only, no agility. Swiv have surprises like these indestructible flying plates. I like them both, no winner.

I'd probably have to say swiv as that's what we played most out of the two back in the day, but I'll go and replay both this week.
