I haven't come across a list like that, but it does sound like something that might be useful. I might look at adding it to AmigaCoding.com...

Edit: How does this look? I need to confirm some of the details at a later date when I have access to my own machines, but that covers most of the standard modules.

I was a kid when I had my 500+ - like 8/9 when I got it, and it was the only computer I had until around 1994 when we got our first PC.

So while I did follow a lot of magazine guides on AmigaOS stuff, I never got to truly understand how the OS was organised and working like I later did with the likes of Linux, for example.

So links like the one you posted above are a great intro list!

Cool, just bear in mind that I haven't yet verified it against my machines - I'm just going from the Autodocs and memory.

I remember spending a lot of time looking at the scripts on various magazine cover disks and learning a lot from them since they often used quite elaborate setups to squeeze everything onto them. Making my own bootable disks with menu systems and my own programs on them, I got to know what was essential and what wasn't, and just how much was available in ROM.

Just a / takes you to the parent directory.

Yep, and : takes you to the drive's root directory. AmigaDOS also has an implied CD function. If you enter the name of a folder without any command, it will CD to it. It's as if the directory was an executable.

As chips there is no difference whatsoever.
The difference being that they have split control and connect between them, of different devices and timing.
For example Even CIA controls the floppy and Odd CIA controls the keyboard.

CIAs were very "popular" MOS chips, used in many Commodore computers and other devices, not just Amiga.

For those that don't know, Commodore owned MOS. If you open a C64 it's full of MOS chips.

Indeed. And MOS was pretty big in the days of C64 (and even before).
Many other companies used their chips (and of course 6502 CPU which is also MOS).
Actually Atari 2600 used their chips and Apple I also.

MOS lost the train mostly when they failed to realize a 16bit CPU was important.
Amiga would be a different computer otherwise...

Embarressing question one.

How do you use anim fonts?

Anyone give me a quick and dirty answer please? I have messed about with Kara fonts in DPaint4 but just manage to stamp a letter - I can see that by holding the mouse button the letter moves through an anim of some sort but now I am just plain confused....

I have never used them, but from what you describe it sounds like they're just an anim brush of each letter. click once and it stamps the letter and advances the brush on one frame. So, set up your animation with however many frames you want, then go to frame 1, click to stamp a letter, move to the next frame, click to stamp the letter in the same position in that frame, go to frame 3 and do the same, until you've completed a cycle of the animation.
