Can I access cf/sd-pcmcia with a "basic" WB3.0 floppy?

I have searched the cf/sd-pcmcia topics, but this is something I coudn't find (or understand). Is it possible to transfer files from my (forthcoming) sd/cf-pcmcia -adapter (A1200) to the internal hd, by just booting the WB3.0 floppy (or some other tool on a floppy)?

I'm trying to move the system.zip (ClassicWB) to the internal hd with the sd-pcmcia -adapter. If/when there's no OS on the internal hd yet, how do I boot the Amiga so that I have access to the sd/cf-pacmcia -adapter?

You need to install the drivers (compactflash.device, fat95 and CF0) on the floppy disk, then you can access the CF or SD adapter from WB3.0 floppy. You'll probably have to delete some other files in order to free space for the drivers. Be sure to operate on a backup copy only and not on the original.

Great! Thanks for the tip Would you have any suggestions for those "unnecessary" files I could safely remove?

I don't remember exactly which files are on the Workbench disk. I could think of ARexx, Datatypes, CrossDOS and similar things. Just what you don't need.

Thanks for the info. It just occurred to me that, how do I actually get the needed drivers to the WB-floppy? I may be completely lost here, but if I boot with the WB-floppy, there's no way to get those files to the floppy, because I cannot access any drive that would have those files before I add those files to the floppy (vicious circle). Is this correct? I don't have another Amiga availale or something...

I hope I'm wrong

Everything would be easier if you'd install WB 3.0 to the HDD. Then you would have enough space to install the drivers without deleting other files and you could run Storage/DosDrivers/PC0 to read PC floppy disks.

This can be done with a floppy based system, too, but it's more difficult and needs a lot of disk swapping.

Anyway, once PC0 is running, you can use a 720k PC floppy disk to transfer files.
