IDE2CF CF card speed compared to hard drive

Hi,
as the CompactFlash cards are really cheap (and also adapters) i'm considering to get one for my A1200 and use as SYS: partition. Is there a significant decrease in bootup time or is it only marginal? Are there any read-write tests compared to hard drive speed available (Amiga ones)?

It's faster, as the seek delays are minimal.

I bet any CF card can saturate the Amiga's PIO IDE with it's transfer rate.

After a little research the CF II cards Read a MINIMUM of 10MB and write at a MINIMUM 9MB.

after a brief search all i found on seek times was this (Negliable). soo yeah... kinda floods the miggy a bit.

just try it, its really faster, basic WB boots under 2secs

so can we have the standard read-only os3.9 files on a CF and the rest on a normal HD???

if its all a matter of assignemnts, then i cannot see why not, infact by doing so it would increase the life of the cf card, as supposedly you can only write a million times or so to the CF card or something like that.

Ironically by the time WB4.0 is released I am sure they would of overcome this seemingly minor CF limmitation
