Aminet attacked again or is it just me ? (solved)
Norton Internet Security on my internet PC blocks Aminet and reports it as a malicious website . Rather do not go there if you do not have a decent protection and even then it can be dangerous .
Edition : Aminet has been unblocked since 20 October 2014 , so the situation has been stable for half a year . Last edited by modern_hermit; 23 April 2015 at 02:04. Reason: solved problem |

Virus Total says that Aminet is a clean site, 0/59 scanners found anything:

Norton was good in the DOS days but has got more and more useless over time. All it seems to do now is nag and report false positive results. MS Security Essentials (no nags or intrusive pop ups) used to be good but recently let a few things in so I went back to AVG / AVAST even thou they also nag (nothing like an out of date Norton thou. Plus when uninstalled they go cleanly).

Thank you all for the comments .
Yes , it seems that only Norton reported Aminet , but this does not mean for sure that Norton was wrong . Anyway , it has been six months since Norton unblocked Aminet , so the situation seems to be stable . Norton Internet Security has been protecting my computer for over six years and it does this so well that I have forgotten how it is when the computer malfunctions . This Aminet affair was really the first and only serious problem in all this time and it had been fixed fairly quick . So , basing on my personal experience , I have solid foundations to say that Norton Internet Security is reliable . Last edited by modern_hermit; 23 April 2015 at 02:08. Reason: wrong formatting |

I'm guessing your PC just got envious and jealous of all that lovely and free Aminet software (over 80,000 files) and blocked it out of spit.

Symantec product are for large corporations - focusing more on remote administration than single user functionality...
