Indivision AGA all Display modes test and problems
Hi All!
I bought an Indivision AGA for my Amiga 1200. It is a fantastic scandoubler/flickerfixer. I am very happy with it. I have been testing all display modes possibles under Indivision AGA, then I discovered that not all modes works right. I have done a test with all Display modes and taking two photos of them, you can find all info about frenquencies and photo image links below. Are all threse display problems common for all monitors? How I can solve these problems? I think that it is a problem with Indivision AGA firmware "bugs". I discovered that not all "monitors drivers" in every Workberch have got equal values, maybe for this reason Indivision AGA cannot delect all modes correctly... In regard to the frequency difference: Run the config tool, and change the scanrate from 1.2x (default) to 1.0. This will also give smooth scrolling in games... Your LCD may or may not display 50Hz, but the few Samsungs I've tried handled it correctly.
As far as the image position, you may be able to tweak things with the config tool. (I've had an easier time getting CRT's to display all screenmodes correctly.) |

Hi Damion!
I tested also scanrate to 1.0, obtaining 50Hz, but the problems are similar or worst. My Samsung monitor gets 50Hz right! About the config tool, I use version 0.99, but only PAL, NTSC and HighGFX can be tweak. I cannot change anything for DBLPAL, DBLNTSC, etc... Can you confirm that your Indivision AGA displays all these screen modes without my described problems? If so, what Indivision AGA firmware you use? Thanks a lot! Juan |

Hi Juan,
I'm using the latest firmware, but I'll have to check to be sure. It may be a few days, but I'll check the DBL and Multiscan modes on my LCD and let you know how it goes. Quote:

Hi Damion!
Thanks in advance... My test results are: (with both scanmodes: 1.0 and 1.25) ------------------ PAL: Perfect! NTSC: Perfect! DBLPAL: Wrong DBLNTSC: Wrong EURO36: Perfect! EURO72: Wrong MULTISCAN: Wrong SUPER72: Out-of-sync in my monitor HighGFX: Perfect! (only with scanmode 1.25) I think that if these problems are common in all Indivision AGA users, it can be only fixed with newer firmware revisions... Currently, I miss use DBLPAL with noflicker mode, It is better than use PAL with interlace... If more people can check it will be great... Thanks... Juan |

I had some alignment issues as well with my 19" CRT, I had to play around with the monitor controls and the Indivision Config to get it all ok. |

Hi NovaCoder!
Thanks for your comments! I already try to adjust all wrong displayed modes (DBLPAL, DBLNTSC and EURO72) using my monitor controls. But the problem is impossible to solve with it: The Image displayed is "cutted" by the Indivision AGA output (I suppose) NOT by the monitor borders limit, if I scroll the full display with my horizontal and vertical monitor controls it is not enough to get full image. You can see it in my screenshots links listed in my first post of this thread. I am looking for if this problem is common with all Indivision AGA users... About use HighGFX is a good idea, but it uses a lot of resources, making the WB slow... I would use DBLPAL with nofliker mode) Thanks Juan |

HighGFX is not too bad if you restrict the colors right down to say 32. Mine runs at a reasonable speed at 64 colors with a Blizz 030.

Hi NovaCoder!
Of course! HighGFX is good, but in my personal case, it uses too many resources for me. I only want to know if my problems to Display DBLPAL is consecuence of my TFT monitor or it is a common problem of all users of Indivision AGA with current firmware 1.2. Thanks!!! Juan PD: good luck with your wallpaper search!!!! |

Indivision AGA 1200
Hi to all,
Juan, try to update to firmware 1.5 Your board is right fitted on Lisa chip? Older Indivision AGA boards needs to make a "little handwork" on his socket. Bad connections results, in many cases, on strange display modes. My TFT TV/Monitor is a LG 22" Flatron M2262D & all modes work perfect (of course, my Amiga 1200 is VGA connected). I'm working with AmigaSYS 4 AGA R1.3, ClassicWB ADVSP & ClassicWB OS 3.9 normally at 640x512 or 1024x768. Best Regards |
