Exile ECS

It runs fine with the newest WinUAE - but at the place with the spiders (far right, near fluffy), it prompts to reenter the disk.

If I do so, it loads, but then (also regarding to its programmer!) there is a copy-protection and the collision isn´t correct anymore (invisible walls everywhere).

Sadly the ADF and the HD (using WHD-Load) Version have the same problem. Does anybody know if there is a working Version ?

PS: for the interested, have a look at my Exile-Fansite at http://www.nemmelheim.de/exile/

Mmh. Try using WinUAE 8.21 R4 and get the HD-Version from http://aiab.emuunlim.com/.

If this doesn´t work, send me a savedisk with the mentionend place, and I´ll have a look.

Yeah I've got that winuae, thats why I'm so happy it works ((was using a much older version from somewher elike winuae.com before @_@) Erm is there any way to run this straight from a floppy? Seen as I'm only on a p2 300 here and I'm wondering if workbench will kinda slow it down too much if its running too

Sadly, I haven´t seen a good ADF-Version, maybe this has to do with the Copy-Protection (sometimes you have to enter a code) ?

But *with* the correct codes I could play until the mentioned position without any Problems. (But until there´s no acid, just water...)

I don´t think the HD-Version is slower in any way (it only will eat 1 MB ram), but it you don´t want to play from HD - try to get another adf maybe.

Sooo...
I tried it another hour, I reinstalled the newsest WHDload, reinstalled the HD-Version from aiab, but it still crashed when loading from disk later in the game.

Did anybody ever try to play past this point (read above) ?

I remember having this collision detection problem when playing a crack of Exile on a real Amiga. Perhaps it's a pirate protection scheme, which makes the game stop working properly if the game has been cracked?

I will take a look

I will take a look at Exile, I have your save disk, and if I have time tomorrow, I will re-crack it. Sounds a similar problem as Hook/Ocean had, everyone missed the protection checks in that, would seem appropriate that Exile was missed also.

Once I have done it, I will give you a new WHDLoad slave to use and you can then playtest to your hearts content.

Exile is done

Exile is now 100% cracked for WHDLoad, Bored Seal, and anyone else who 'cracked' it missed the second check later in the game.

Exile slave in the zone

For those that want to playtest this game..... all protection should now be removed.

Please let me know of any problems, but please do not spread beyond the confines of you guys.

Oops, there is some (I hope minor) Problem:
after it prompts to place the Exile-Disk back in df0 it now loads and you can play on.

But if you want to save after this point (Help, Save Disk) it seems that the active disk is (virtually) the game-disk. It promps to format it, but I think this would quite destroy the image.

So, after the check, the (...virtual...) save-disk should be placed back in df0, then it should work.

Ok.....

No problem, just me forgetting to get the game to reinsert the save disk.

Keep on playtesting with that version though.

galahad, thanks for doing this...

not sure, but is it possible to do extra's such as:
1) sprite collision off (go through walls)
2) get all weapons
3) unlimited x ?

4) is it possile to fix the disk version as well?
..
