Risky Woods on the Amiga...

I've only played the Genesis/Mega Drive port of this game, but I did like it. What's the Amiga port like?

And what are some good Amiga-to-console ports?

Actually im pretty sure the game started on the Amiga and was then ported to the rest!?. In my opinion, Risky Woods on the Amiga is brilliant!!!!... Excellent Graphics, Great Title Track, Fun to play... etc...

Risky Woods definitely seems like an Amiga original game to me. The entire scrolling routine is based on copperlist/sprite tricks to fake 2 x 16 colour dual playfield screens. If it was a port from another computer/console there would be no need to perform tricks like this. A huge amount of chip memory is "wasted" with an enormous copperlist to redraw the sprites horizontally over and over again to simulate more colours!

Looks good and almost identical on both systems. Probably one of the few well coordinated cross platform games.

Megadrive isn't as shiny/warm but it plays better. Smoother scroll and bigger play field. I wonder if the atari version was any good, same palette as the megadrive?

Risky Woods is a nice game, but i prefer Blades of Vengeance. It's a very good fantasy platformer/beat'em up game for the genesis, much more fun when you play it in co-op.

Well, the graphics on the Amiga version certainly look better. I'd never heard of Blades of Vengence before; thanks for the link Retro Nerd!

EDIT: I just played "Gods" on a Genesis emulator; what a fun game! (SNES port isn't as good.) Man, I wish Rick Dangerous had gotten a home port!

And also, in one version ( the one without ingame music ), you cant control your jump in midair. But with the other version ( with ingame music ), it allows you to control your jumps.
