Did you try the pre installed versions for WHDLoad?
Are you using the latest (18.1) WHDLoad? |

I've just managed to duplicate your problem in WinUAE. I think the problem maybe NTSC settings. If I enable NTSC in the quickstart, the game doesn't load. If I enable PAL, then the game loads.
EDIT: Hold down both mouse buttons on boot, press a key to select PAL and click boot. Now try the game from HD, if it works then Insert the disk in DF0:, reboot and repeat the above. Alternately, you can copy the Pal monitor to Devs:monitors and choose a pal mode from Prefs/screenmode to use for the game. EDIT: Just read Kippers post #34, the clue was there. This sounds really promising. But during boot selection "Display Options" is crosshatched out, and pressing a key doesn't seem to switch between PAL/NTSC as the dialog suggests. Is there a fix for that?
EDIT: Copied PAL from Monitors to Devs but after rebooting it doesn't present a PAL option in Prefs, only 4 NTSC options as usual. Trying to burn your ADF to floppy now (but Amiga Explorer is slow and temperamental.) |

That's exactly what happens in WinUAE. I thought it was just a wrong config.
EDIT: Info found on the web; For switching the Agnus chip needs to be 8372A You can use a switch on pin #41 of Agnus to select PAL (route the pin to ground) Find a program called PALBooter Last edited by Arnie; 12 June 2015 at 07:46. |

Apparently it's to do with having the older Agnus. Is a new one an easy replacement for a Rev 5 A500?
EDIT: Seems to be. Any idea what version does not equal "old"? (Still burning your ADF to floppy.) |

I'm sure there used to be something called 'mode switch' on one of the coverdisks.
EDIT: Amiga Format issue #39 EDIT: I just read that the Agnus 8372A is a direct replacement in a NTSC machine. You could also use the 1mb 8375 Agnus, I think you need the 318069-17 (NTSC). Last edited by Arnie; 12 June 2015 at 08:27. |

Great. But with your floppy, I get a lot further. The crack splash screen, wavy animation... But then the screen starts rolling and I can't see what it says.
Is this indicative of my NTSC 1084S being the weakest link now? |

I doubt it, I think it's the agnus not switching to PAL mode.

Would the 8375 be just as good?

I think they are both the same, It probably depends on which one is available.
EDIT: Be careful which 8375 you buy, they're not all compatible. Last edited by Arnie; 12 June 2015 at 10:13. |

My current Agnus is: MOS 8370 3787 23 Any ideas which are compatible or not? Can I put a 2MB 8375 in there (even if it only lets me use 1MB)? The ones available on Amibay or eBay are either: 8371 8375 |

Cannot use a 8375 unless you have an A500+, most you can use is a 8372A and mod the board for 1mb chipmem. An a500+ will allow up to 2mb chipmem

Thanks. What modding is required?
I also emailed you about buying a chipmem board. |

I can in WinUAE, although I don't know what 'Supra Clock 500' is to set it.
