hello everyone, did any of you get the monkey island 1 se talkie version to run with the mt32? According to the readme file, this version should also support midi:

3.1 Playing it with ScummVM
===========================
- Just start the game as usual.
- Hint: If you prefer MIDI mode without any additional soundtrack, you can get rid of the ripping reminder by just putting a silent dummy track1 into the game folder.

3.2 Playing it in DOS
=====================
- Run "monkey r1" for playing with Roland MT-32 music.
- Run "monkey r" for playing with General MIDI music.
- Run "monkey a" for playing with AdLib music.
- The game can be played either from a harddisk or directly off CD.
- Hit '[' and ']' to adjust the music volume.



Unfortunately it doesn't work for me, I just created a track1.wav file without content with audacity and copied it into the games folder - unfortunately without success.

Does anyone here have any ideas?

From where is that snippet coming? Certainly not from the ScummVM port by NovaCoder.

It would probably help if you tell us how you configured the game in the ScummVM GUI.

MT-32 page -> "True Roland MT-32 (no GM emulation)"

Assuming you have CAMD installed and MT-32 compatible device connected to serial port.

The snipet is from the gog scumm vm version of monkey island 1.

Yes of course, all other games with mt32 support are working fine

The Monkey Island 2 Talkie Edition runs like a champ with my mt32.

I'm still trying to get the monkey island 1 talkie edition to run with the mt32. Unfortunately without success. All other MT32 games work perfectly with ScummVM.

Could someone try if MI 1 Talkie works with MT32? I am using the GOG version of MI 1 Talkie.

Works fine here. Maybe something wrong with your game data files.

My data folder has only these 3 files created by this software http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/monkey1.html

Thanks for your answer. in my data folder are more files, i will delete them and give it a try. but i just saw that you have a file called monkey.sog - i have a file named monkey.sou instead. i will investigate

So after a bit of trial and error and research, I found out that the MI1 talkie version works for me in english with midi. but with the german patch it no longer works.

With MI2 Talkie, however, midi works in the English and in the German patched versions.

This is probably because the patches were made by two different people.

Yes, at least now I know what the problem was. I would of course still like to be able to enjoy monkey island 1 in german with the outstanding mt32 sound

I have problem with latest version, after clean install and with new empty game list, when i choose "add game", cursor and whole amiga freeze.

If you try to run the latest RTG version on the system in your signature, you are not fulfilling the minimum specs. The last version compiled for a 040 was 1.5.

What was the last version that did still work?

I have a 68040 and tried the latest 040 version: 1.5.0.004. And it doesn't work.

Which is a 8-year old version. NovaCoder most likely thought you were talking about the current RTG version and was probably trying to reproduce the bug with that. That's why you always need to give such info.

But the question remains: what was the last version that actually worked for you?

The only version I tried was 1.5.0.004. It was my first attempt to use ScummVM. I don't have earlier 040 versions.

But the first person that told about freezing problem was lioneer. I just said "I have this problem too". But you are right - more info is better.

I haven't tried that version for many years and don't even have the source code, maybe try the 030 version instead.
