Brilliant, I'll be ordering one of these since Idefix-express doesn't work with my Apollo 1260.

Just a quick question, will this fit in a tower with Indivision AGA and Mediator?

It'll be a really tight fit as you'll have to raise the FastATA with Rom Risers and then you have little if no room between the FastATA & Mediator.

It's not a configuration I'd go with.

Will it fit in a desktop A1200 with the Indivision fitted?

Also - is it going to have compatibility problems with CF Cards - can you use CF cards on the IDE with this?

In the same way as with the Tower you have to use Rom Risers but the problem now is the Roms will touch the underside of the Keyboard and restrict the case closing, you can cut a section of the metal backplate to make things fit together but its quite a butcheresque approach.

Maybe the Indi AGA MkII will fit along side the FastATA without the need for mods like this?

MKIII and MKIV have native support for AmigaOS 4.1 Classic

MKIV has new firmware, updated software v10 (ata3.driver / ata3prefs) and new AllegroCDFS (v3.6)

On my MkII & Powerflyer Gold with a Blizzy 1230 I get 6mb/sec with 300x CF with SFS File System. (PIO4)

On Native IDE its 1.6-1.7mb/sec tops. So yeah its about 3.5x faster

Check out Doom loading:

[ Show youtube player ]

Its pretty quick eh?

You may be able to do better with the newer unit + PFS3.

I really wanted to test it out with an ACA1230 + SSD as I know people have hit 8-9mb/sec with these setups

But my ACA + A1200 had weird issues... So I went back to the trusty Blizzy 1230

Do you know what version of UDF this new version of AllegroCDFS supports? Does it support UDF2.5+ which is needed for reading Bluray videos among other things?

The Elbox FastATA will not fit with Indivision AGA or Indivision AGA MK2. I have severe trouble downsizing my IDE-fix SATA concept, so it will at least fit with Indivision AGA MK2.

I already have a FastATA MKII and a MKIII. I'm waiting for the new Idefix to use with my BPPC if it can get those 9-10mb/sec (that is the same you can get with an ACARD, just 'cause of the limit in the BPPC through SCSI).

EDIT: Actually I'm using Pio5 with 9,475.084 mb/s with a 1230/56 ACA using PFS3 and the Bugfix Update.

I have written a new beta version of ACATune tool, which should make most ACA1230-56Mhz users very happy, because it fixes the following issues:

- Ram (especially RAD disks) is now reset-proof (currently Kick 3.1 or greater only)

- IDE drives recognized after MAPROM

http://eab.abime.net/attachment.php?...1&d=1294335231

In order to activate this feature, the Kickstart ROM needs to be patched after MAPROM. This is done by using the new "p" option. For example:

acatune -maprom * p (internal ROM)

acatune -maprom <kickfile> p (external ROM file)

After installing the patch, the Amiga takes a little longer to boot. In exchange, all of the issues should be fixed.

Have fun!

Update: this update now supports patching 1MB Roms. Be sure that the area in file offset $7ffa6-$7ffe7 is free and not occupied by any ROM module

If you want to ask for ideas here... But I don't mind to be filing boards to make them fit

Anyway, it seems there isn't a thread opened for it still... and it should be.

EDIT: Please, at least a photo of the prototype. You could open the thread with that.
I remember you said something about your Amiga priorities and the Indivision and the Idefix Sata were the first ones... Mines are now the Idefix and then the Indivision, and I've got some questions for a thread.
