WinUAEX Final? version released (with source)

For anyone who's interested XPort has now released a final batch of emulators, mostly with only GUI fixes, one of which includes WinUAEX.

It's a great port of WinUAE and I've had a lot of fun out of it.

He's also released the source for each and every one of his emulator ports so that anyone who wishes to take over any of his projects can do.

More info is over at the xbox-scene forums.

I already have the XDK and Visual Studio up and running.

Hopefully (Pwease?) Toni Wilen will accept SENSIBLE questions on upgrading the WinUAE core that WinUAEX uses.

XPORT tried to move to the latest version of the WinUAE source a while ago but it was too slow on the XBOX's 733MHz celeron.

Getting a few emulation bug-fixes in, such as the BPLCON3 BRDRBLNK, and RIGHT BORDER colours etc. which shouldn't affect emulation speed would be excellent (cos they really p!ss me off).

Yeah I was about to post them in my first post but I couldn't put it in simple enough words other than "screen leaking on the right"

It would be a great fix though, it's really noticeable on some games.

I'm sure Retroplay would appreciate fixing the DF0:???? when there is no adf in DF0: as well.

Other than that the only gripe I have was the graphics bugs in Super Stardust but I've not really been using many AGA games anymore as I've realised the xbox isn't powerful enough. So I wouldn't really care if this wasn't fixed.

Merging bits and pieces is near-impossible because too many things have changed.

It is probably easier to just update to latest and then remove "useless" features than try to add missing features to "ancient" codebase.

I'm going to try and find out exactly which version of WinUAE it is based on.

Maybe then just do as Toni says, update to the latest and slowly #ifdef or template bits out until it's fast enough.

Well I wish you luck mate, as I said, I'd love those features added but if you can't get it going well enough then I'll still be happy with WinUAEX as it is.

I can't offer a lot of help but I'm a willing beta tester if you need someone else to test it out.

Keep us informed!

EDIT: Oh and for info I found this in the readme of v1

- Excellent compatibility - ported from WinUAE 0.8.27

Very useful. I shame there is no homebrew on 360 or PS3

I read that, but I wondered if that was accurate by the time it got to v16?

You bet.
Btw I nearly choked in my coffee when I read the front news page on Xbox-scene. XPort has been busy lately.

Alex, not sure id you saw the news item about uae having a core update?

Might be worth checking out as it's more likely to demand less resources.

Lightbulb winuaex :bugged black blank screen bordom!

hello folks!!

i hijacked k'gorillas post,sorry new to forum?
(must learn to post-looked in help no>how to post thread?erm)
i hope someone can help me?

but i have a bug in winuax v14

i used to have noprobs running disk images whatsoever os config's or kickstart, i could get all games running, even games like stardust or super stardust-and;not much on screen verification on loading is there fellas?, unless you posess the natural gift of amigaload jedi sense(tm) the skills only learnt by years of disk swapping on the real deal.

anyway here is my problem:

1. some games load ok eg: bobs bad day-anthrox+11 (loads all the time) and displays the cracktro as normal! i see it (not black)

2. some games load and you can hear the cracktro music the screen stays black-but when you minimize to select another game
(push thumbstick in) the screen is there in full colour but minimized so the cractro or game is running fine in minimized mode-> in the frozen state-normal for this option.
-but why is the damn screen black on fullscreen display ??

3 i had all my games running perfectly its just doing the black screen with sound thing recently

i conclude my xbox hdd is quite full only about 60mb free on C: and e: could this be the prob?

anyone?

i read something about the sort files option somewhere, sort from top or some bug simular to mine, almost exact i think.

anyone save the day?

kind regards

sine

then i can *excel* at my amiga games
========*\update/* ========= i have installed winaueX v16 and cleared over 2gig off the drives, just incase its a save state config bug ala settings... still no joy problems are still: the black blank screen freezing on game selection-plenty do this but not all. i must say out of all the emus on xbox winuaeX is the most bugged out of all the xbox emus... thankyou.. any professors willing to ferment over this problem or is it like politics-erm no firm answer? thanks again ..sine maybe me kickroms are dodgy..or got corrupted somehow...possible after all they are s/w now! or just maybe the emu needs pal50 not ntsc or pal60, dash check about to take place- can i fix it with single self diognosis?? prolly not!! eureka dr heinz wolfe!

It's too old, the differences are too great compared to the latest version.

You'd have to get the source code for every release from the one used in WinUAEX and now and introduce bits slowly.

Sad to hear that... I wonder how much work would be involved to port over a newer core and then try to take out various features that slow it down... probably a lot.

If you want to have a go I've got the tool-chain & build sorted.

You cannot just swap all the old files for all the new files BTW
