NOOO!!! My A1200T Just Died!
Can you believe it! less than a week before Christmas and my A1200T has popped! Continuously praying, while cycling the power switch doesn't help and the 3-fingered salute results with a monitor displaying "No signal"
Pulled out all the add-ons and left just the mobo and fdd... Still nothing. Restarting with both mouse buttons... zip! There's power to the board but she just doesn't want to play. What makes it worse is that I'd downloaded a load of games to enjoy over the Christmas break Well, looks like I'm off to Marketplace or eBay for a replacement....... |

Thats awful news, really sorry to hear that
Maybe the motherboard can be repaired? Its not something silly like a kickstart chip not seated properly is it? Also suggest trying another PSU even if its a stock power brick outside of the case just to rule that out for sure. All the best. Steve. |

Hi Steve. I completely removed the mobo and checked it over for anything obvious and will probably go through a component-by-component check to see if I can lock it down (I knew that electronics degree would come in useful! ). Thinking about it, despite there being power to the whole board and headers, the FDD doesn't even click, so perhaps it is a badly-seated kickrom chip... hmm..
@DH - Thanks for moving it to this forum. Obviously I'll be grateful of any advice anyone has. Although, I may still trawl through eBay for a 'spare' A1200 Feliz Navidad LuMan |

if you have a tester, check 5 volt, 12 volt and pin 1 of ide connector (reset)
if 5 and 12 are ok and reset is zero, find a capacitor of reset borken |

Hi,
A blown CIA chip can cause loss of floppy/HDD/initialisation issues. |

Hi all
Thanks for the messages of support and advice. Nice to know there's caring folk out there I've removed and re-inserted the Kick ROMs to check they're seated OK, and also checked voltages on all the headers and ports. There's correct voltages at all points, but nothing to the display through the videoport, composite or RF. So, I'm fairly confident it's gone the way of the Dodo! The good news is I've managed to obtain a replacement mobo, which should be in my hot, sticky palm anytime soon Once it arrives I'll take pics and make a photo-diary of the re-build so you all can share in my enjoyment Have a great new year LuMan |

Sorry to hear about your Amiga, I hope you get her back up and running again soon, or at the very least a worthy replacement! It's good to see you are sticking with the Amiga and not moving over to Windoze, now that would definitely be a tragedy!
All the best for the New Year! |
