AmigaE.... any survivors?
So I've decided that to get my head around some coding skills, I'll go "back" to the Amiga and re-learn AmigaE.... I started to get a good grasp of the basics some 12 years back (got as far as opening a new screen, opening a new window, print out some text in said window, and get the whole thing to close when I pushed the close button on the window on the screen.
Sadly, back then, my A500's HD died on me, and all the work I had done died too, combine that with not being able to afford a new SCSI HD and I was in trouble, coding wise However.... having (unsuccessfully) tried several times to get me head around either C or C++ since I got the PC, I have now decided to go back to Basics... I mean AmigaE. So.. is there anyone else here who either is still coding in E or otherwise knows some bits and bytes of it? |

I know that is how Paul Nolan (Photogenics) got his start. He is a friend of mine, he now codes in C though.

From what I read, E is vastly superior to C.

It might be on Amiga, YoJoe.. but sadly, it's not available for other platforms.
And it doesn't optimise it's code very well, eiher, from what I've read in the past (and with the "official" Wouter-version no longer being updated at all, it prolly won't do so either) |

The truth is out there.
In the meantime this new E compiler update should keep you occupied on your Amiga home.swipnet.se/blubbe/ECX/ Last edited by YoJoe!; 15 October 2007 at 08:49. Reason: Bill Gates frakked my link. I fixed it. |

That was strange.... how did my link get damaged like that?! The clipboard on this XP SP2 box must've malfunctioned... Bill is mad at us for not upgrading to Vista so he plays pranks on us.

Apart from ECX, I've seen no implemetations of E as we know it from Amiga, on other platforms. There's EonJava, and GnuE, but they have nothing todo with AmigaE from what I can find out.
