Cheetah Marketing joysticks
In 1986, a large batch of 8-bit Atari computers landed in a chain of polish "hard currency" shops, Pewex (shops where extra goods could be obtained in exchange of US dollars, GBPs or DMs instead of communist state currencies ).
800XL and 65XE models were available along with cassette recorders and "no name" joysticks: VG-125 and 2000X. 8-bit Ataris became predominant home computers of the 80s in Poland and VG-125 became classic joystick of the era. Now I can see that the same looking joysticks were available under Cheetah Marketing brand in the UK: Cheetah 125+ - same as VG-125 (good leaf-switch based joysticks, microswitch based models may also be available)http://images27.fotosik.pl/294/f5d3dc33932b669a.jpg Cheetah Mach-1 - same as 2000X (bad microswitch based joysticks) Both joysticks were so-called "no name hardware", they didn't have any branding except "JOYSTICK"/"JOY STICK" logos, especially they didn't have a Cheetah branding. But the "joystick" logo is the same as joystick logo on Cheetah 125+ joystick. Grammar and spelling errors (in English) can be spotted on the box: http://img88.imgshack.us/my.php?image=jostickboxbv8.jpg (one of the box variants) So I've got some questions: 1. When 125+ and Mach-1 joysticks were sold in the UK? 2. Do you think that Cheetah Marketing actually manufactured these joysticks in the UK? Or was Cheetah Marketing just a-branding some chinese or taiwanese hardware for UK territory (eventually adding Speccy interface compatibility)? 3. Were any other Cheetah joysticks available in the UK? Any additional info will be appreciated |

I still have that joystick somewhere. Bought with Atari 65XE or 130XE long ago. I think few buttons are broken.
