Yet another very simple and *VERY* addictive Popcap logical game called Plants vs. Zombies.
Adventure mode, survival mode, mini-games, shop, crazy shop owner, flower garden, mushroom garden, aquarium, tree of wisdom, lots of different plants, lots of different mushrooms, lots of different zombie types, game almanac [ Show youtube player ] (*spoiler alert*), and lots and lots and lots of playability. |

Finished Mirror's Edge on PC with 360 Controller on the weekend. By far the best game I've played since finishing Shadow of the Colossus and Ico.
Been playing Kickle Cubicle by Irem on NES (NesterDC) for the last couple days. What an awesome gem. I am almost through. It has lots of new gameplay elements that get added one by one, and many fresh ideas in general to make it a super-fun action puzzler. It's technically flawless with great animations and graphics, too, considering it's on the NES. I like that it is only superficially grid based. Enemies and objects can totally move outside the grid, due to that timing matters a lot in this game. I also like that your character can turn without moving and has two actions that are both very important to solve puzzles. The enemies all behave very different, and have different actions, too, that one has to figure out. The enemies need to be utilized a lot in this game. Also played Fire'N'Ice on NES (Solomon's Key 2). Again nice graphics and interesting gameplay, but not as good as Kickle Cubicle. |

Yes, Mirror's Edge is a very good game, to bad it's so short...
Are those extra tracks available as downloadable pack on the PC version too? |

2nd era...

Just downloaded WinUAE and a torrent with a preloaded hardfile full of games (totally legalled owned of course! ). Intend to start with EOB1, a game I have never played.
Have just given up WoW, think I'll be swearing off MMOanything for a long while. I didn't really enjoy it anyway, and having to pay a fee means playing even if you don't really want to. |

Just finished (first! ) Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, and as soon as nostalgia kicked in on the main menu loved every second of playing it!
All the old/new painted backgrounds look lovely in 1280x1024, the characters... Except for Guybrush and Elaine, they simply look butt-ugly anorectic chiseled-in-wood liveless manequins. Especially Elaine on the close-up, yuck... ... Oh well... Voice acting is really well done, perfect in each and every case (checkout the ghey cannibals voices ). I was having doubts about Guybrush's voice being too wimpy in that trailer, but hey, he is a kid, no? Rearranged music sounds great, very similar to the original tunes - which of course you can hear with a single key click Be sure to do so - confront the old version with the newer that is - there are a few tiny little details that got changed here and there that add some phun to the playability. BTW, I just realized how HUGE the first game was compared to the laters. Sure, it doesn't take much to finish it when you know what to do, but still, with so many locations, items, and tricky solutions, it took me almost 5 hours to finish it (of course with a little help from the awesome hint system when irritation kicked in ). Worms (MS-DOS) - I think sometimes AI of opponent is better than in Worms 2.

Oh yeah, about SoMI SE one more time... TCD just reminded me that I forgot to mention that the new interface sucks.
The icons/names aren't always on the screen, and you either have to press V to show them, press the shortcut key to activate the desired action, or move the mouse-wheel to switch between them. Many times I found meself switching back to the old look, to do some tricky actions that required using something on something... Besides, the name of the SCUMM BAR (the place ) doesn't make sense now |
