winuae, xp + pc competitor problems
hello all,
I am running WinUAE0822R4 with XP and have recently bought a Pc Competitor for running those great old two player games (Bloodwych, Speedball2, Future Basketball, Jaguar etc etc.) with 2 amiga joysticks I have installed the joysticks as a four axis four button config and calibrated it successfully. It works with the cc64 emulator but does not work with WinUAE - one joystick works while the other seems to have problems with two of its axes, although the calibration shows it as OK. I was hoping someone might have a solution to this. |

Sorry, but 2nd joystick doesn't work on WinXP, according to the dude that builds PC Competitor

If XP is like W2k, there is a joystick type called "2 2-axis 2-button joysticks on Y-cable" or similar - last in the list. Works nicely

Too bad, but WinXP isn't the same case as with Win2000, so two joysticks don't work with the "two 2-axis, 2 button joystick on one gameport". With this driver only the first works correctly and the second refuses to go right (or left, didn't remember which...) :-(

Good enough reason to install Windows 2000.

If it's indeed XP that's responsible, you've just finalised my decision to stay on W2K as long as possible and skip XP entirely. Nothing can touch my Competition pro micro sticks! And whether the TCPA fascism really happens or not it'll probably be Linux next anyway

do you have the configuration and the WinUAE version number under which you were able to get the joysticks working?

Xeno you are right about what you say. I have exactly the same problem. What makes me feel worried though is that in winUAE 0822R2 everything worked fine. So it seems that there was no problem with PC Competitor and winXP back then.
The PCCompetitor creator knew there is a problem and he was expected that this will be solved with 0822R1. It took one more version to fix that after conducting Toni Willen about the incompatibility with 0822R1. I will email Toni Willen and address him to this subject over here. It just get's annoying that I have to use an older winUAE version to play games with my PC Competitor Interface... |

I wasn't aware that a previous version of WinUAE worked with the competitor. I'll download it and give it a bash.
thanks |
