Memory Speed Test
Is there a reliable way to measure memory speed using software? Anyone recommend such a program?
I was using the memspeed program from this package - http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/MemUtil - but getting some strange results. The timer seems to wrap around some arithmetic limit and often gives huge numbers for s/operation. I was wondering if there was any difference in performance between an SRAM card in the PCMCIA and one of kippers 4meg A600 boards. Apart from the strange numbers, the memspeed utility also crashes horribly a few seconds after starting it's longword tests but only on the Kipper2K board which seems to work perfectly otherwise. It can run the memtest all day and had zero problems during a long session of WHDload games and demos. Is it possible this program does its longword accessess in some filthy way which the DRAM controller doesn't like? |
