Question Gazza's Super Soccer - calling Swedes and Germans!

While HD installing Gazza's Super Soccer I found some extra pictures on the disk in Atari ST NEO format. It seems that the game was to be released as Bodo Illgner's Super Soccer and Anders Limpar's Proffs Fotboll in Germany and Sweden.

One of the people involved with the game (Edward Grabowski) has his own website with a little information about the game.

It doesn't seem 100% guaranteed that the game was ever released with those alternate names for the Amiga, and I can't find any cracks in TOSEC either.

Does anybody know for sure whether these alternate names were released? And if so does anybody have the originals/cracks?

"Bodo Illgner's Super Soccer" was definitely released in Germany. I read a review in a gaming magazine back then.

Edit: This is the review: http://www.kultpower.de/powerplay_te...nerssoccer.jpg

Yes, I'm sure Bodo Illgner's Super Soccer was released. I've never heard of the Swedish release, though.

Í thought Limpar was something you ate...

Well I remember Bodo Illgner, but only for some review, it might be one of those game only reviewer saw. Don't know if it ever was released in oublec...

I remember Bodo Illgner as well, so that should have been released.

Question Original or ADF anywhere?

So nobody have an ADF/original of either alternate game? If an original can be found I can crack this one in about 30 seconds -the copylock key is written in the game right near the top!

I am assuming the main EXE is different on the alternate names, otherwise it would still have "Gazza's Super Soccer" written in the middle of the main page. And there isn't enough room to simply hex edit the different titles into it.

A quick search on Google shows that Anders Limpar is for C64 and mayby Atari (under the name Anders Limpar's Super Soccer)

And the Bodo Illgner version is mentioned here http://www.sciencedaily.com/encyclop...of_Amiga_games

Unlikely; the game has been in Twists MIA list for more than a year now.

Finally I was able to get a copy of Bodo Illgner's "Super" Soccer. Sadly the disk isn't working because of read/write errors. Nevertheless I made an adf file...

I found out that all the files on the disk seem to be identical with the Gazza's Super Soccer version (looking for example at the language text files from the Bodo version there isn't even a german ingame text for the game - just the same language files as for the english version).

I will make scans of the disk, manual, box etc for HOL later.

Should I upload the not working adf to the zone? (At least the game starts to load and you could see which files are on the disk)

Edit:
I've uploaded the adf to the zone. And I think I was wrong with the language files. There are just language txt files on the disk for the additional leagues/languages (ITA/SCO/DEN/FR). There is also no english txt file, so I guess that the main language informations are stored in another file which turns most likely a working version of Bodo into german.

I think its even not possible to create working ADF of your Original, because of protection.

Thats possible for sure.
Beyond that the disk just doesn't "sound" that good and to be honest I'm not that experienced in Amiga-PC-Data transfer.

On my A600 the original disk doesn't even start loading while a copy of it (made with X-Copy) does but there are read/write errors soon.

If someone with more know-how than me thinks there is a real chance to make a good dump out of the disk I would have no problem sending him/her the disk.

Some of the CAPS/SPS team are rather adept at repairing disks, they might be able to help. Some others on here have also used alcohol to clean junk off the disks enabling a good read of the data. It might be worth a try as the disk as it stands is rather munted!

As for the protection, if you managed to read the main game file it could be easily cracked (and the copylock data reconstructed by the SPS team too) so it would work, even if the copylock is broken. That's definitely the easy part! Reading the data correctly will be trickier.

Thanks for letting me know!
I checked the original disk and yes it has the bytebandit virus, damn I should have looked after this before (but this is the first original disk I have that contains a virus).
So I guess this means that the disk is more or less useless...

PS: I finished scanning the the manual and I will upload it to the HOL server.
