Rule of thumb: If it works under Linux, it's likely to work on RapidRoad as well. Reason is that if Linux drivers are available, the device is properly documented, and we can also write Amiga drivers.

One thing that might be cool would be if it worked with USB monitors. In theory that could make it possible to use WB with high colors and high resolutions, without using chip mem.

Although, due to the USB speed, the screen update speed might be quite slow (and obviously can't be used for non-WB stuff).

This card has worked with Poseidon's Audio class on hosts which support isochronous mode (e.g. Deneb) since v4.0

I *thought* the rule of thumb for sound cards was if it enumerates as a generic audio class and your host supports isochronous mode it works with Poseidon?

Whilst you know that others might not which is why I'm sharing my tests.

A lot of people have asked me what devices work with the USB stack and unfortunately the creator of the USB stack took the info down from his website.

Presumably you mean USB graphics cards? The main vendor of USB graphics cards is/was Displaylink. (I have friends who have worked their for many years.)

Unfortunately for us most of DisplayLink's work is proprietary. Chris Hodges attempted a reverse engineer of their work in ~2008 but I don't think it was ever finished.

Well, I was just thinking of USB monitors, but they surely just have a graphics card built in.

Something like this:

One USB port for both power and signal.

It might just be a Displaylink adapter inside.

Can anyone who has popupmenu.library and reqattack and magic menu installed test if the menu that opens when you right click inside a requester (for example the requester that opens when you choose "about" from "Workbench" menu) gets stuck using a usb mouse connected to RR?

Hey Guys, I got a second RapidRoad USB so moved the clockport version back to my A1200, somewhat as expected the 030 isn't able to drive USB Audio but it does work in as much as the device is picked up and playback is attempted. There are occasional beeps to suggest it's trying to play!

A fast 060 might be able to push it, assuming the clockport has enough bandwidth. Shame I got rid of my 060 lol.

@Jens, I have a strange issue on my A4000, just noticed if I stop the USB stack my Amiga locks up. Have you seen this at all in testing? Otherwise it seems to work fine!

Indeed it's not expected behavior. Was just wondering if Jens saw anything similar during development. I'm going to remove and install the usb stack to see if that helps.

I had been getting strange lock ups. Then I realized I forgot to install one essential piece of software. StackAttack. I also cleaned the Zorro slots. Reminding just in case you don't have it in your Startup-Sequence.

I cannot confirm any of this, as I don't have any PPC and related operating systems. Naturally, I can never guarantee RapidRoad to work in a PPC setup.

Jens
Did he say what he did to make it work?

I have a dual boot A4000, Rapid Road works perfectly on OS 3.9, but so far I cannot get it to work on OS 4.1 classic.

I guess I cannot say about the a4000 setup. But I can confirm that it does work with the BPPC in a 1200 with os4.0 and os4.1. No special config just startup and go.

Does it show up in trident?

Yes. I have attached the relevant lines from Poseidon's error log as below. Interesting it works OK in an A1200.

It all works fine in the exact same hardware when I boot into OS3.9

10:32AM| 0-poseidon.library: New hardware DEVS:USBHardware/rapidroadxs100usb.device/0 added (RapidRoadUSB Host Controller).
10:32AM| 5-poseidon.library: GET_DESCRIPTOR (len 8) failed: packet overflow (7)
10:32AM| 10-poseidon.library: GET_DESCRIPTOR (len 8) failed: packet overflow (7)
10:32AM| 20-poseidon.library: Device enumeration failed, sorry.
10:32AM| 20-poseidon.library: Root hub enumeration failed. Blame your hardware driver programmer.
10:32AM| 0-poseidon.library: PoPo kicks ass.

As I am thinking about this. I think I may know what may be the issue. But as I don't have an A4000 I might need your help. I believe the issue has to do with the x-surf card. But don't quote me on it. I have read in several forums that people are/were having issues getting that to run with os4.1 (not sure if the same issues apply with 4.0). And from what I have read the x-surf card is the only way to get RapidRoad to work on a 4000. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you would like I can send you my Stackloader and my Posieden prefs. Just pm me your email and I can send it to you. But I am not sure if it will work as I am just using the clockport and not an xsurf.

Thanks for sending those files, but I got exactly the same results as before. Of course I changed the driver settings over to the X-Surf version. I guess someone will come up with a fix. At least I can still boot into 3.9 and access USB that way.
