Sure, if you think the result can be better I have attached the PNG.

I have heard about the Rebel's palette, but I thought it was for Workbench use.

Hmm wait, the attachement has been converted to jpg, use this one instead : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Temp/DEMOS.png

Thanks

I converted the PNG into JPG with 100% quality and converted it to IFF using ImageStudio and Rebel's 16 color palette.

I think it's really awesome for 16 colors...

Don't you think?

It's not as pretty as the larger resolution but really cool for 16 colors (imho).

Awesome design but the tool doesn't work for me. It used to crash without an error because of the number of ECS games I have installed (+1800) but now that I moved them to 4 seperate folders I'm receiving an error after the crash: "out of variable space"

-AGA games and AGA/ECS demos work fine.
-I still have around 460 ECS games each of the 4 ECS game folders and I'm switching between them by manually assigning the folder I want to use. I removed the ECS game assign from startup-sequence.

I wish to set this up and use it forever but I can't :/

@Lobotomika

I know, since the begining, it is limited to 500 items by category (500 ECS games, 500 AGA games...etc) I'm going to raise that in the next release...

Can you tell me how much buffer size is left with 460 items ?

which accelerator board do you have ? and how many time it takes to scan the 460 items...just to know...Thanks

How do I check how much buffer I have left?

It takes 7 seconds to scan the folder that is on an internal CF.
My 1200 has a Blizzard 1230-IV 030/50 with 32MB RAM on it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

On the scan screen, you can see the buffer size decreasing during the 7 seconds...

Damned ! it means you're going to wait for about 30 seconds to scan 1800 games...
Are you sure you want to do that ?

Sorry, I wasn't careful. I end up with 28022 buffers.

I see your point and I agree that waiting that long kinda defeats the purpose but if it's only a trivial change, it's nice to have the option rather than getting kicked to the desktop. I'm sure it'll be great with a faster setup like winuae. If it bugs me too much on my 1200, I can still use multiple assigns.

Weird, I have 14504 KB left with 169 items.
You should have less with 460 items...

Ok try this one : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Tiny...auncher143.exe

You can go up to 2000 items by category.

Please tell me how much buffer is left with 1800 items

about 1.4.2:
My buffer wasn't really 28022. It was probably a display bug. I noticed the number dropped below 10K to 4 digit numbers but the lefternmost digit did not disappear as one would expect. The number kept aligning itself to left while counting down, freezing the righter digits as it went to 4 digits then 3, 2 and 1. 28022 was false information, my true remaining buffer was 2 as only the left digit was correct. This is why I saw that error.

about 1.4.3:
I can run a folder with 460 games in it just fine now but anything above 500 games is a sure crash to desktop. I didn't need to try with 1800 games, 700 was enough to crash it. Happened exactly at number 500. Buffers appeared to be around 30k at that moment but I don't trust that information. Still it feels like the exe is not really unlocked for +500.

Still, I have a working copy now. Even this is cool. Thanks.

random info: I'm running OS 3.9 if that helps.

It works fine. Can read 1860 games too but scanning gets incrementally slower as the number of games increase:

8 seconds with 460 games
75 seconds with 1860 games
50 seconds from 0 to 460 while counting those 1860 games

I could stand half a minute of waiting but I think I'll go back to 4 seperate folders if 75 second delay can't be avoided :/

Glad that it works.

Can't be avoided, it is the time to store all the games in memory: the fastest is the cpu the the shortest is the time.

The goal was to have an easy to use launcher to do compilations for the CDTV/CD32 (but that can also be used on computers of course) with no disc access while browsing.

On a CD you can put about 400 games.

Later I will try to use a database on disk, and access it little by little so people like you with a huge database will not have to wait

Now what you can do is to use SFS Filesystem, because it seems that the 50 seconds are the time you lost cataloging your directory with 1860 games.
SFS is a lot faster. You can also try FAT Filesystem. Can you try ?

BTW what is the buffer left size with 1860 games ?

Database on disk would be sweet.
IIRC the filesystem I'm using is PFS and I don't like the idea of messing up with it. Will end up with more troubles and gonna throw the amiga out of the window probably.

Will do with fat tho. My PCMCIA CF card is obviously FAT. Do you think it'll be faster to scan ECS games off it or are we strictly talking about internal IDE here?

I'll check the buffer left once I'm home.

Thanks.
