Worth noting that machine has 8 not 6 megs of Fast Ram. The unix kernel takes up 2 Megs on boot, and 8 is the bare minimum I think for AMIX.

I eventually grabbed these myself and received the books today. Really nice, I very much prefer to have real books at hand when finding my way around Amix And with manuals like this, I really like the spiral bound -format.

I have only seen a PDF of the "Using Amiga Unix" manual with the www.mmhart.com -watermark over all pages, I might do a new and better scan from these later (remove the pages from the spiral and autofeed the pages into a big autofeed scanner-copier at work).

Congratulations !
Can you make some scan of the pages in a NOT lossless format (.tiff) ? They yield larger files but you can compress them well and you can generated any other lossy format (.jpg, .pdf) easily out of it ! Vectorization and OCR may be also possible, so you can re-create a native PDF document from your scans.

Scanning is a very tendious work and you surely want to do the work only ONCE, so choose your output file format wisely !

summary:
• 24/32-bit color scan
• at least 300 dpi (choose 600 dpi if you can, else 300 dpi)
• NO image manipulation but colour calibration and page alignment/derotate
• output format: TIFF (uncompressed) (compressing it as .7z or .zip archive yields very good compression ratio, especially with scanned pages with bw/grey contents)
• scanning tips:
- put black cardboard paper on the backside of the scanned page to prevent translucence of the page back side example scan how NOT to be done (translucence on the left upper corner)
- try to make sure your scanner at work is colour-calibrated (e.g. with a IT8 calibration target), it will save a LOT of work afterwards (do not forget to add your scanner ICC profile to the archive) ! If you cannot, choose an appropriate stock ICC-profile, colour correction is possible but very tendious.

Posted a new thread about the manuals.

I noticed this only during the very last moments of the auction: Wangtek 5150ES Streamer fuer AMIX. I bought it and should receive it next week, I'll see how if and how it works.
