A4000D - DF1 light lights up each time DF0 is accessed

The light on my DF1 HD floppy drive lights up each time my DF0 gotek is accessed and I have no idea why...

Config (see pictures in attach) :

- A4000D.
- Twisted floppy cable in use.
- Gotek with OLED (jumper set to S0) connected to the end of the floppy ribbon cable.
- FZ-357A (jumper set to DS1) connected to the middle of the floppy ribbon cable.

Both floppy drives work as expected, Gotek is indeed DF0, and FZ-357A is DF1.
The only thing that really bothers me is that each time read activity is done on DS0 (Gotek) the green light on DS1 FZ-357A also lights up...

Anyone with a similar configuration and an idea what could be causing this?

The A4000 (and most Amiga models) only have two motor signals - internal and external. This means that when you have more than one floppy on the internal header, both motors will respond at the same time, and thus both activity LEDs will turn on. It's harmless, like you've found, both drives will work as expected.

Not all floppy drives have the activity LED wired to the motor signal, but that's how it's done on Amiga motherboards so Amiga floppy drives tend to follow that convention.

jumper J351: DF1 Enable
Closed: Enable low-density (880K) floppy as DF1.
Open: No DF1 *OR* for high-density (1.76M) DF1.

Fixed the issue by swapping both drives on the ribbon cable.

FZ-357A (jumper DF1) at the end of the ribbon.
Gotek (jumper S0) in the middle of the ribbon cable.
