he last visited 14 Dec so not too regular.
I think what he done was to toggle pin 10 and pin 12 of the floppy cable so that it would cause one of the other to show as DF0: |

It's a shame that nobody is making and selling something like......
http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.co...t.aspx?id=1708 I bet it would come in very handy for everyone with a gotek that wants to connect it up to the external drive port. |

Because it (and the ICD ShuffleBoard) only work with computers with a socketed Gary chip (i.e. A500/A2000/CDTV)

I'm no expert, but don't think this would cost to much to make. What I'm trying to say is that if they can make cables to connect a gotek or hxc etc to the external port then why not make these too if they are cheap to make. It's just nice to have options. Only a idea! |

It is very cheap to make indeed.. That is just two sockets, some wire and a dpdt switch.

It would work.
If it's "amiga twisted", then the twist should only affect the LED wires, not the drive selects. |

Yes, the switch decides which device's pin 10 is connected to pin 10 on the motherboard connector.

Yep, I did this (there is a pic on another thread here somewhere) based on Jope's info.
On my A1000, I had this with a Gotek and an internal floppy. Worked great! My cable was really messy tho, and before I could clean it up, I got most everything working with the Gotek and just removed the floppy drive, so I haven't gotten back to that project. I probably will tho before too too long. (My A1000 is having some volume problems, so I'm hoping to fix that first, and if that goes well, I might get back to the switch and put a real drive back in. |
