Serial Mice and drivers

While I was waiting for my micromys to arrive I thought I'd give these serial mouse drivers a whirl. I have had a couple of logitech m34 mice along with a few other older two button mice, as well, and a 25-9pin serial converter. I've been working on this for aboutu a week (don't laugh plez! lol) and all I've gotten this mouse to do is jump the pointer all over the A500 screen. I've read and searched and there really isn't much else to try here. has anyone had success with this? I've tried the following drivers and the only thing that I can get to actually notice the mouse is the NewMouse12.lha I've tried the LogiMouse1053.lha driver as well. Serial port is set up as 4800 with 7n1. I'll be honest here and say that the syntax for the NewMouse driver is a little convoluted. I've tried all combinations of what might be a proper directive. I'm doing something wrong here, I'm sure of that. Some direction would be really appreciated

Cheers.

I have Microsoft Serial Mouse 2.0 working quite fine on Amiga 1200, thru NewMouse driver. Logitech mice may not work properly, better to try any old mice you can find, I tried many of them and only one worked..

'Jumping the pointer all over the screen' is about all I can get some of my old serial mice to do on a PC nowadays! The trouble is, they're just too... old!

PS. And I'm not laughing!

4800bps is a pretty strange rate for a mouse.. Generally they're 1200 or 2400.

1200 was the first setting I had. But after reading through a couple of threads, the logitech m-mxx type mice was supposed to be set to 7n1 @ 4800 so that was the last thing I tried.

I'm thinking that I'm goofing on the syntax. I really do not understand the syntax as when I try anything the newmouse command reports an error. when I just use newmouse without any settings, it works, but the mouse jumps all over the place. It's driving me a little crazy as I have no mouse and using the a-keys is like using geos on a 64...

That didn't work either. I guess the commas in the readme file for the command wasn't the proper syntax. While this didn't give me any errors, it still just jumped around the screen. I tried a few other combo's and that didn't work. My micrmys adapter arrived today so all is fine. Thanks for the help.
