Is there any pd utility on either Amiga/PC which allows you to:

1.search the contents of a CD for a particular file

2.list the contents of every file on the CD and create a log file of the contents

1. CTRL+F under Windows' explorer to search files? I'm not sure what you want.
2. "WhereIsIt?" for Windows can make catalogs of your CD with advance searching and categories support -- among other.

Or if you mean just a log of all files on your CD you can use DIR command under DOS or list under AmigaOS.
For example undder Windows:

dir >C:\fileslog.txt D: /S

Will list all files and subdir (/S) from drive D: and save the result into C:\filelog.txt
You can type dir /? for a list of options like formatting, naming, date options.

Is a lister here m8! it can create a whole list of a cd/dvd in either text or html (in a web page) it has a million options and it's great For the PC of course but you can use it on Amiga cd's/dvd's etc.

Also another handy one is from the old gold cd's called text search just suppose right you have text lists of 50 cd's and you want to find lets say anything to do with Vista(pro) etc you can search the entire list of text files and it will match anything with Vista in a list and tell you which cd it's on. Don't know if thats what your looking for but it is a handy extra if you want it i'll up it to the zone.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm compiling all my Amiga stuff onto CDs and wanted a way to include a list(index) of the contents in a read.me file on the CD.
