Possible New Groundbraking EAB Feature!!!
I was on my way home (I'm still there) for Christmas on the train when it suddenly hit me. A cool new feature for EAB which I would definitely go for. What I want to know (RCK) is is it possible/viable/needed? The idea is to have a cut down version of EAB but using WAP technology so you can get access to new EAB messages on your WAP Mobile Phones. Is that just a cool idea or what? I don't have access to the Internet when I come home and only have access through my phone but there isn't much to do on WAP sites. An EAB WAP site would just be the best thing ever but would it be hard to setup? Maybe it could be a cut down version where you don't have to sign in but get access to all the standard forums. Also somehow edit out the huge pictures people always post in messages. How many people would like this new EAB feature? Maybe the site to access could be wap.abime.net maybe? I look forward to your comments.

No need for WAP if you had a decent cellphone that loads normal pages (iMode )

to produce small wap pages like mini EAB stats (wol, etc) maybe;
But to re-code all the board for (slow) wap interface! whoa, I have to investigate but I think it won't be easy. |

From what I knew iMode could read normal HTML + some image format. I could be well wrong.
WAP is still too old IMO. I agree it would be a tremendous task to WAPize the EAB. might not be worth the effort. |

I was hoping it would be a matter of just somehow writing a small tool that coverts the html into wap when you connect but I guess it's not as easy as that. Damn. Still I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of quick wap test even if it just loads up a nice colour EAB logo. It would be interesting to see EAB on my phone. Akira: I've no idea what iMode is. Sounds suspiciously like iMac to me. Anyway wap isn't that old. It still does the job and in colour on my phone. It's also quite fast at downloading lots of text and pictures. Usually about 5 to 10 seconds. |
