Poseidon Licensing

Hi everyone!

I'm building a tower for my 1200 and there's a question i have about Poseidon and i can't see anywhere the answer for this.

Sorry, if this as already been answered here but i can't find any straight response.

The question is:

To use a full version of Poseidon with Spider USB, do i have to register it, buy a license, is it free or what?

Apreciate all the help in this matter.

Just a curiosity try to find the diferences

Aside from the sticker they are the same card but Spider costs 90€ and the other one cost me 10€ You see my frustration when i bought the other card for my PC and they gave me this one on the store.

When i looked at it i said for myself, it's just like the Spider... it can't be...

Well, when i got home i got my answer.

There is no different at all hardware-wise.

Yep those NEC-cards work with a firmware-mod and are ALOT cheaper than the rip-off "Spider". Don't fall for the trap!

It's the exact same hardware, but Elbox is reflashing the Firmware of the cards (to change the product ID) before they resell them as "Spiders" - the Spider driver checks for Elbox' Firmware version and refuses to work if it can't be found.

Poseidon is freeware now. And in contrast to some older versions (which refused to work with the Spider driver) the latest version does work fine with Elbox' driver.

Since you'll save quite a sum of money by modding a card, why don't honor Chris Hodges' efforts by a little donation?

You all may want to know that if you look at the Thylacine.device driver, you will find Chris's name as putting the final touches to it (read the hex looking for the ASCII).
