JanoEditor / DOpus prob?
Hi Bloodwych..
weird prob this... If I put a disk in df0: called "Disk01" and put another disk in df1: also called "Disk01" I can load them up seperately in the two dopus windows, not a problem. however.. when I chose to edit a file on one of the disks (using the EDIT button) it seems to use the disk's label as the paramater to pass to JanoEditor (or it might be JanoEditor's fault), this can cause probs if both disks have a file on that is named the same (s:startup-sequence for instance). JanoEditor should be opening DF0:S/startup-sequence NOT DISK01:s/startup-sequence. Is there anyway to alter this behaviour or is that the only way JanoEditor can work? EDIT: this does not happen when using the HEX button |

you should not have same named disks in different drives , bcause you can
access disks by their names too , and WB/amiga dos gets confused ^^; example : "disk01:s/startup-sequence" < which disk should be acessed in this case ?? ^^ Last edited by Dan; 30 October 2006 at 16:23. Reason: misstyping |

That's why I want to refer to them by their device.
You CAN have the same named disks in both drives and it shouldn't be a problem if you refer to them directly as DF1: and DF0: for example. This works fine for the hex editor. I'm not attempting to access them via their disk label, I know that is likely to confuse WB/DOS - well actually it won't confuse them, more likely confuse the user |

AmigaDOS gets confused if both disks have exact same name AND creation date.

They definitely don't have the same creation date.
My problem isn't a problem with AmigaDOS complaining or failing to recognise disks, it's a problem with either Dopus passing the wrong parameters to JanoEditor or JanoEditor looking at the device to find the disk label and attempting to open the disk label (not the device itself). |

Had a quick look at this and yes it's a bug in the way dopus hands file paths and names to external programs.
It not only does it with Janoeditor, but other external programs as well. When it passes on the file location string to a program it uses the disk not device name. I have no idea why the FileX doesn't have the same issue?? It receives the same string as the other programs through dopus, but for some reason changes to the device reference itself. Sorry, I have no solution as that is the only way to pass on a files location to an external program through dopus (have a look under config->buttons). |

Yeah I did take a look and noticed the {f} was the same for FileX and JanoEditor which is why I posted here, I thought it might be JanoEditor's fault.
Ah well, I'm sure I can live with it Thanks for taking a look. |
