This is the first time I've reached the last four since 2008/09 and I'm pleased to have got this far but in truth I'd have been disappointed if I didn't given how the games fell. I don't expect to get through to the final, but I'll give it a good crack. Here's a sighter for both tracks.

Thanks. I will be putting some real effort into this. I didn't go off the track much but I think I'll need to learn what speed to approach corners at and the best line to take.
As you can probably tell I don't have much experience with this game. It's not normally my cup of tea but I have a lot of respect for it and can appreciate the level of detail and how well it holds up even now. |

Run a few laps with the "Prefered Gear" option on, this helps a lot to get a better feeling for what speed to take each corner.
Then turn it off and make a lap for real |

I have tried a few goes with the provided WHDLoad version provided, every time I start a race the car keeps spinning 360 to the left and I cant stop it spinning? WHY?
[ Show youtube player ] ADF set gets stuck at the AMIGADos saying Loading... ? Seems as though WHDLoad works only when you select Practice any Circuit Non-Championship Race, results in that weird spinout. Last edited by ransom1122; 04 January 2016 at 04:41. |

You are guaranteed to get through to the final, but of course not necessarily the side in which the two leaders are fighting for first position to win. |

Good luck guys!
Graham: Be aggressive! Brake late & and accelerate early out of corners. It's better to crash out and learn the car limits then to stay on the track with a slow time. Try to keep RPM high always & also take note of your sector times |

Ransom: I think the version linked has been heavily modified with F1GPED for the competition, so the locked steering is likely intentional to ensure only the correct mode can be played. |

Also, only graham, jpv, capehorn & joni are eligible to play this round anyway.. because it is semi-final of the knockout
Knockout is a separate tournament that happens during changeover period, read about it here |

This is a great tip. I changed the race options to rookie and then started the game up and pressed F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F6 to turn on all the driver aids. Basically the game does everything for you except steer. You then get a good idea of how fast you can take each corner and at what speed. I went around each track a few times and tried to remember which corner was taken in which gear, I then went and changed the settings back to the competition rules and raced it myself, pushing a bit harder in each corner as time passed. It really helped.

I tried to get close to the record in Britain, and when I couldn't do it I tried to beat 80 seconds. Couldn't do that either.

Nice times capehorn, maybe further tweaking the car setup will shave some time off

Final day before we reach the final of this year's competition.
Thanks to the people for their advice and encouragement but unfortunately it looks like I'm going to fall a very long way short, despite a couple of decent sessions over the last couple of nights. Might be able to squeeze one in tonight if I'm home early and sober enough. This game probably isn't my calling in life. Summed up by the fact the one time I did get a better time I accidentally left it on Rookie having forgot to change it back (having used Shatterhand and capehorn's tips). |
