@lilaurl: so many questions!
1) I can confirm there's a series... but in all cases, any entry will do.
2) 15 is its own game, no overlap with anything.
3) you wish

@Nobby_UK: you are supposed to name the game, but you'll get points for the character too.

You're better than me, I can name six so far :/ This is a really hard one.

I'm missing some details into the rules behind naming the game. To not give spoilers I'm not going to say which one, but there is one particular character in the set which is probably easily identifiable by most. However, that character participates in literally dozens of games across different platforms and in different eras of computing. Soooo... just name the family name or does it have to be a specific game?

I am very easy going with this. I think I know which character you mean, and naming him or even the franchise will do, as the games all have similar names anyway.

March Quiz - Clues #1

There's about 30 people (one from here) so far, and in hopes of getting some more I'll send out a handful of clues now.

1) Several games are based on famous movie/comic/book licenses: the 2, 3, 6, 9, 19 and in some way also the 17.

2) Number 23 is the newest game, an action platformer that will be released this year.

3) Game 25 is the oldest title this round, it has a "wild west" theme.

4) On all pictures except 6 and 25 you can see the a player character.

5) The titles 21 and 24 were released exclusively on the Commodore Amiga.

Deadline is Sunday the 31st of March, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz again - good luck!

March Quiz - Clues #2

Getting the difficulty right is always really tricky... I really thought this round is very balanced, but now the average is still very clearly below 10 points. I'll do better next time!

Anyway, there's 40 people in the quiz now (only one from here), and you have exactly one week left to join. Let's go - here's some fresh clues:

1) The games 4, 15, 16, 18 and 20 were released in this decade.
2) Title 17 is the only first person shooter in this round.
3) Number 20 is a Metroidvania released on Steam and one console.
4) Title 8 is a franchise with one remarkably bad 3D game.
5) Game 13 is a point and click adventure that was never released on console.

Deadline is Sunday the 31st of March, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

This is a hard one - may 8-10? Some look familiar but just can't place them...

Thanks for organising this - nice diversion from day to day life!

March Quiz - round ending soon

Alright folks, the first round of 2019 is coming to an end this sunday. At the moment there are 60 participants (two from here), which is a really good start. However the average score is still below ten points.

As these are the last clues, may I ask everyone to man the keyboards?

1) Number 14 is not Scooby Doo!
2) Number 19 is not Dragon Ball!
3) Capcoms Ghouls'n'Ghosts was inspiration for number 18.
4) In game 20 you control a robot.
5) Picture 25 shows a thief.

Deadline is Sunday the 31st of March, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Well I might have confused him with Scooby Doo as well, it wasn't an easy field.

April Quiz - MS DOS Classics

Not every videogame childhood starts with a console. Maybe it was the family PC, where those who knew the secret words ("CD" or maybe "DIR") were able to launch magnificent games. To honor this, let's have a round focused on titles that were started via MS DOS... I made sure to pick a lot of classics, so that also pure console users have plenty of chances to score.

Due to the topic the selection relies mostly on games from the 90s, which is hopefully okay for most contestants. After the feedback regarding difficulty from the March quiz I made this round a bit more friendly - You all have fun and good luck!

Deadline is Tuesday the 30th of April, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

here is the quiz...

April Quiz - Clues #1

PC master race incoming - looks like you are enjoying this round! The quiz has been up for just a week, but already over sixty people are digging out their 90s memories to try their luck on these DOS classics (two from this community).
It probably helps these games are actual classics and not just some japanese obscurities.

Nevertheless - here are some clues for you!

1) Watch out, some titles might yield only half a point if you don't get the series entry right... I'll decide that by the end of the month.
2) Game 2 and game 3 are classic western RPGs.
3) With the numbers 4, 6 and 8 you are looking at realtime strategy games.
4) 12, 13, 14, 15... here you control spaceships, either for a few sequences or the entire game.

Deadline is Tuesday the 30th April, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz again, good luck: https://i.imgur.com/tjJ1grW.png
