Got the Amiga Bug Back! Need help with a Non Generic Games list

Hello to all who Read this thread

After Much time Spent with X86 as of Late I felt I have Neglected the Poor Old A1200 and want to Dive back into it but with Games and Software that I may never have heard of but Recommended worth a look at

We have all seen the 100 top amiga Games done time and time Again on YouTube and Often "Hidden Gems" are overlooked in these Videos

Amiga Games I Seek:-
FPP/FPS Games
Point and Click Adventure
Puzzle Solving/Clue Finding
Dungeon Crawlers
Platform Games
Strategy and Sim Games
Racing Games (Although not Played often)
Board and Puzzle Games
Card and Casino Games

I am Desperate to Find a Amiga Game a bit like Age of Empires that isn't Settlers or Populous

Also looking for any Workbench Software and Even Games that people have Come across that they find useful

I am on a Stock A1200 with a 4GB CF Card with Classic WB Installed and Gotek Drive for Games

It's tricky to mention any hidden gems because, it feels like it every half-decent Amiga game was already done to death...it's been quite some time after all.

Some random ones I like:

-Covert Action: lesser-known Microprose game, quite awesome, what with its random missions idea
-Knightmare & Captive - excellent, original dungeon crawlers from Tony Crowther
-Mechforce - extremely hardcore (0-gfx) and extremely addictive Battletech mech strategy
-Bloodnet - another Microprose masterpiece: adventure/rpg hybrid
-The Clue! - burglar simulator
-Laser Squad - not much changed from ZX Spectrum but still one of the greatest strategy games ever

I have tried all of these games out Buddy and I Must say I am Impressed!

I am Stripping My A1200 down and am Going to repair and Spray The Case.

My Favourite Colour is Purple and for So long I have wanted to Make this Happen but I Cannot Decide on a Definitive Purple for Her. I know it has to Be Matte I really do not Like Gloss

I am also looking at a Permanent Mounting Solution at the Rear for the Cf Card as I have a Few Different Cards with Different Workbench Setups Catered to Needs at the Time would you say this is a good idea or am I just Brutalising my Case even Further?

Edit: I Finally have a Slim Laptop Optical Drive Suitable to Use with Her would you Say Mounting this at the Rear also would make for too Hard work or would Delicate Dremmel Work be Tidy enough here?

Dune 2 maybe?
It's not a whole lot of (modern) real time strategies for Amiga, I am afraid.

I can also recommend Dune 1. It's very nice mix of adventure/strategy.
And I can't recommend K240 enough. Imho it's a gem of strategy game, and with small UI changes, it could pass today, as a great game.

Dungeon Crawlers:
Captive is probably the game I spent most time on with my Amiga, must have.
Dungeon Master (never tried II)
Eye of the Beholder

Strategy:
Laser Squad
X-Com

Nathan I would not cut a hole in a case that was not already cut, but I did 3D print a CF card thing that turned out well:

Foundation http://hol.abime.net/614 and derivatives. But maybe that's a bit heavy for a stock A1200? It requires to at least install it via WinUAE or A mounted CF card with the in the PCMCIA slot of the A1200 as it's a CDROM game originally.

And be warned, that Amiga bug is lethal... I started again with just an A1200 some 5 years ago... And now I have almost 10 Amigas

If you're going to paint the case then go nuts and cut away. It'd be so much work to ever get that paint off that I don't really see the point in not doing what you want with it now.

A word of caution though with the slim CD drive. They just about fit, and I mean JUST. There is 0 means of securing it in place so it'll float about and be honest with yourself and ask in 2020 why do you need a CD drive on the 1200? Especially if your going to have an accessible CF card at the rear? You could play CD32 games but you'll not get the CD audio so why bother when there is generally a WHDLoad dump of the CD32 version that's just easier to use.

For the CF card the best option is an IDE buffer of sorts then extend the cable to the spare port at the rear. Amigakit sell a CF mounting thingy for this position and its no to expensive.

As for your list of games and the FPS genre try breathless. One of the only Amiga FPS games that supports keyboard and mouse controls and circle strafing so you can have wsad inputs and mouse look. Only thing missing on the mouse it height but it does work really well.

I see what your Saying about the CD Drive in the Amiga and I may have to rethink. I Will have a look on Amigakit at the Cf Mount. And as For breathless ive Actually Spent Quite a bit of time with this Game. The Enemies Arent too Interesting but they Really Did nail it With Controls and Challenge.

It's for a good cause, though.
I wouldn't know how to hide one, let alone ten.

That's why you need a detached man cave with side entrance clear of the house. Of course then the wife goes and buys CCTV cameras so some strategic parking also comes into play.

It is Lethal I Did own two A500's one Accelerated with tf530 and Another Stock apart from 512kb Expansion

Sadly had to sell the A500's and Keep my Trusty A1200. I live in a Matchbox

That Game looks Cool as Hell

You can have a look at the "competition" thread and specifically at the PD or Magazine rounds. I am sure you will find some interesting games you have never heard about

I have Decided i'm not going to Butcher my A1200 Case although its not in the Best Shape Anyway.

Checkmate A1500 I have Settled on as it's all done For you and I Freaking Love the Keyboard Case and Undertray for it!

Just wondering Would Stephen Make me a One off Purple One ( A Man can Wish! )

Was looking at the New A1200.Net Cases but I Feel they are a Pain in the Arse to get Hold of!

Now back to Gaming!
I have sat down With Settlers and am now Starting to Understand the Mechanics of the Game more and are now Getting Further

I have also Been Playing the Legend of Robin Hood and God that game is Hard! its Fast Paced, While your Seeing to one Task one of your Merry Men get into Trouble and you have to go and save them, and then go back but god is it Addictive! Great Art Style too!

Crime City is one of My Favourite Amiga Games of all times but I have Played that so Many times now. Any Recommendations on Games that Play in the Same style but have a Different Plot?
