Angry MBX 1200 Dead Ram board

hiya ppl I got a Microbotics MBX1200 Ram board that refuses to work

Ive tried all combinations of things with ram without with fpu without and all manner of jumper configs all with the same result, A black screen when I power on the amiga

A visual inspection of the board reviles nothing
so I come here for any advice or suggestions

I've had some problems with a few ram boards for the standard desktop 1200 and nearly all have been down to one thing

The upper metal shielding can sometimes catch the bare connections on the ram board. Have you checked that yours isn't shorting out?

more than welcome to the chips Cosmi,

I now have two takers for a 3.9 roms sweet, about time that burner of mine got some serious abuse!!!!!

okay... back to the MBX,

lets removed the following;-

the FPU,
the Oscilator,
the J2 jumper

Now set the jumper [J2] from the FPU circuit (leave open).

put the card in TEST mode and remove the memory.

now test that configuration my friend,

should that it boot (try getting into boot menu ) see if the card is in working status.

if not attempt to put [J2] into syncronus (14.3mhz) by setting it to the top two pins as in the destructions above

IF you get this far, attempt it with the memory installed!

IF you are successful with the addition of RAM (remember to take it out of TEST mode [J1-left most = open]) you could at that point re-introduce the FPU to the board and see if you can get it in syncronus and then external clock.

My thoughts lend me to think that the FPU circuit could be at fault, but try and go through the above m8y..

good luck

LOL!!!, my friend i can just see you needing to buy another home with wheels just to store them all LOL

@Cosmi,

I have 4 projects to complete this week
  • r0jaw's Apollo 040 conversion
  • Kinnies Z3 re-work
  • Scrappy's A2000 mobo/2mb scsi card
  • Some lovin' for the wifie

so if your in no rush I can certainly get to it, if its an easy fix I will bump it to the top and get it posted back to you.
