I'm sure I've read on here somewhere before that even a 60MHz 68060 is only just about fast enough to play MP3s at a decent bitrate (ie. 160, 192, etc) on an A1200.

I've usually converted the sound files to some less-cpu-hungry format (uhmmm... iirc 22khz 8bit stereo wave) and played'em in that standardish os3.9 player (what's the name?) and showed to me friends: "look you bastard, after you left the amiga community things've changed - we can easly listen to mp3 now!"

On a 030/50MHz 32MB that is...

there is a clockport dongle that will will allow for mp3 decoding

heres one

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search....#vfsoundsystem

but i am sure there is another one.... i just cannot remember the name of it... i think smiley had one or was it CU_AMiGA... not sure now..... mind you it could be Keropi... he has most thingys

but i do remember reading on some hacking page, some one had made an A600 into a car mp3 player... he was also able to play lotus while driving down the road... for those extra style points

Send a message via MSN to dlfrsilver
Just use Goldwave, and convert your favorite music from mp3 to IFF sound
format

It's as good as MP3 in term of quality in 22050 hz when played back with eagleplayer !

try Deliplayer it support MP3 but AFAIR you must set output to MONO-8Bit-11025... mhhh perhaps Hippoplayer handle a faster replay, i'm not sure.

But didn't except to play something with good quality on a stock A1200. As people suggest convert your favorite MP3 to WAV, AIFF or even IFF...

the 020 can't play any mp3 file at the correct speed...even at mono and 11025mz...I guarantee....
hipoplayer...songplayer...eagleplayer....amigaamp...all of them use the mpega.library...so all mp3 players will play at idem speed of the mpega.library

030/50 mhz minium to play mono & 22050mhz

040/40mhz or 060/50mhz to play at full quality...stereo/44100mz
