New Alfa Power Hard Drive

I’m trying to install a new Hard Drive in my Alfa Power HD unit without much success. A Seagate 80gb is recognised I can set up the drive, file system etc, but when I try to format it I get a dos error 3. The drive was previously used in a PC. A Western Digital drive is brand new and is not even recognised any ideas please. I’m using HDInstTools.

Depending on the firmware version of the Alfa Power you might be restricted to harddrives up to 500 MB or so.

Exactly. Don't try to install such big HDD. When this controller was developed the biggest HDD on the market were about 100MB. So the best idea is o buy CF car 32MB or 64MB size and connect it via CF ro IDE adapter. Please be aware that not all modern CF cards will work properly. This is because some CF card producers don't follow 100% CF standard. Look for old CF cards manufactured 5-8 years ago.
