A500 Kickstart 2.04 won't run any disk

Hi

I'm new to the forum but I have searched without any luck. But if this topic has been answered before I apologize. Please direct me there.

I have an Amiga 500 (so it says on the buttom but with an KS 2.04 it must be a 500+ ?) that is still alive. When I turn it on it boots the Kickstart 2.04 but then hangs at the "hand on disk" image; it doen't read the disk no matter which I feed it. Actually nothing happens - I can hear no activity at all. The disks are working as they can be read by my other (pure) A500 with KS 1.3.

After booting KS 2.04 both LED's (power and disk) are lit permanently.

Now I thought it might be the drive so I bought and installed a GOTEK drive - but the same thing happens.

I'm not interested in swapping the drive from my other A500 as it has never been opened and I'm afraid of destroying that one.

Any idea as to what to do? Any further info/pics needed?

hi,

since you had opened the case of your 500+ (2.04) - did you checked the battery and capacitors?

#1) just attach some images of the motherboard, so the experts may find something.

This image is KS1.3.
KS2.04 is purple with an animation of a disk inserted in a disk drive.

Thanks for the replys. I have been away for some time so sorry for my late reply.

Here are some images. As you see there is an A580 board that I did not try to remove; I don't know what to do with the cables that are attached to the board.

I cannot see any bad capacitors or batteries but I'm no expert.

And sorry - it's the purple boot screen; see picture
