prob with cf flash?
Jus got a mega cheap 4gb cf flash for transferring data over pcmcia.
Forgot about the compatibility when buying these cards so if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Lost £3. But it might be something to do with formatting. I don't know. I backed up my old 4gb with all its demos, music etc to disc. I then transferred it back to the new cf flash. it was already formatted to FAT32. My A1200 has the FAT32 drivers already installed and the pcmcia drivers. Its never had problems reading cfs in the past but it cant read this new card at all? Not sure whats happening. PC can see it. I was thinking about formatting the cf in winuae first but I cant find my original winuae os3.9 install with all drivers etc. Is there away to format it in windows correctly? cheers |

I can only get Sandisk cards to work in my A1200 PCMCIA.
Formatting to Fat32 is all It needs AFAIK. |

i transferred my OS3.9 install over to the cf and tried it on my A1200. It works as a HDD but not via PCMCIA?
Anyway. in order to see if the A1200 was still excepting the PCMCIA i copied over some files onto my A600s 4gb sandisk ultra (as its not in use at the mo). It worked on the a1200. So ive decided to stick the new card in the A600 until i get that up and running and im gonna keep the sandisk as my PCMCIA card. Problem soved. Cheers Arnie for the imput. |

Lots of cards work on IDE but not PCMCIA, I don't think there's a way to tell until you try them. For example the Kingston 4gb cards with the flower on them work fine on IDE but don't even get seen on PCMCIA, it's completely hit and miss.

Sometimes they work with other versions of the CFD driver but it's hit and miss in PCMCIA. Pretty much all work on IDE (I'm yet to find one that doesn't) so this explains your findings.
