Mortal Kombat II (WHDLOAD)

Dear All,

I have a problem with Mortal Combat II (1mb & 2mb versions). I'm having the following popup window on the Classic workbench ADVSP: EXCEPTION '' Level 3 Autovector (COPPER/VBLANK/BLITTER)'' ($6C) at $ 1FD9F6 (SLAVE $54E) Occured.

I have contacted WEPL (Bert Jahn) of WHDLOAD and he suggested me to try NOCACHE and NOAUTOVEC. NOCACHE does not make any difference while with NOAUTOVEC the game freezes at a screen with the caption: MIDWAY PRESENTS.

Any suggestions please?

Try it with a normal workbench or another CWB and see if it works ok.

I have successfully loaded the game using the config file for CWB_ADVSP with WB3.1 installed.

Hi Arnie,

Can you please explain more in detail pls? I'm a bit new to this but if you shed more light i can manage to do it. On WINUAE with NOAUTOVEC MKII works ok but on the A600 no. My A600 has an ACA630 installed and a 2MB PCMCIA. I tried to remove the PCMCIA but with no success.

Your advice

Carlo

Regards

Carlo

I can't help you with the A600 as I don't have any fastram.

I would suggest disabling the ACA630 and use the 2mb pcmcia, if it works then the ACA is the fault.

Try booting from a standard WB install or another CWB install, if it works then something in the CWB_ADVS is at fault.

If neither works then I'm stumped.

I got it working in WinUAE without any additional settings.

Hi,

In fact on WINUAE it works well only when i use the NOAUTOVEC command on WHDLoad.Prefs. I disabled the ACA630 through a disable jumper and managed to load MKII without any problems. Do you have andy suggestions why?

On the other hand i can't say that there is something wrong with my ACA630 since MKii boots well through FD. Only the WHDLOAD version does not work well. There is a compatability issue i think.

Any suggestions?

I think something got lost in translation. I didn't mean that you're ACA was faulty, I meant the ACA could be the reason MK2 wouldn't work.

Anyway, glad to hear you got it working

I have exactly this same problem on my A1200. I'm thinking to register WHDLoad but now I'm concerned if there gonna be more probs with games. I have tried only some titles so far and this was the first one to not work. It always crashes at the point where the animated MK2 intro should start after "Midway presents" text. It works if I'm banging fire during the titles though when it skips right to the menu screen. Miss once this and it always crashes. I have also 68030 processor with 8mb card.

By the way I have CWB. What whould be the best way to load normal WB when using CWB? I have done it by loading WB from floppy but it feels silly cause I have harddisk and everything.

Problem solved with tooltypes.

It's now one more registered WHDLoad user in the neighbourhood...
