To be completely honest, it is interesting from a hacking point of view - if one flutters past my way on the cheap, I can see it being added to my collection of projects - like the 4 C64 DTV sticks I have been meaning to hack for like .... ever.... |

This has been out a while. Isnt this just a emulator with Sega's name stuck on?

Yep, it's one of the old ATGames/Blaze machines. Not an emulator though, one of the gazillion one-chip hardware clones.

And yes, this is very old news. Some trigger happy sites have been quick to announce this as a new product without even doing a basic Google verification. |

No nitpicking. It's not android software emulation like RetroN5 or Retrofreak. That's what i've meant.

Re-enter?? I had that 2 years ago (my son made my wife get one) and after one afternoon use, we returned it.
Bad emulation, only MONO sound (not even HDMI, it was AV with ONLY 2 cables) just to mention some reason we returned it. Not to forget very bad controllers. It is piece of crap. After try, boy turned xbox and the same game look and play better on over 10 year old unit. You can actually see 2 connectors on that picture in link. They were selling them for a while now... I thought it was called Sega Mega Drive 3, released long ago in Brasil.

This thing is old, someone , after seeing the NES mini thing, started googling, found this and thought it was new. It's not even made by SEGA, it's licensed.
I remember seeing these in Target 2 years ago. |

This has been repackaged for Sonic's 25th anniversary, but otherwise it's the same cheap, nasty third party hardware. Maybe that's what they should have referred to in the article, not the original edition.

I doubt Sega will ever re-enter the hardware market as a serious competitor. They don't have any killer exclusive in-house software any more and many of the legendary people that ran Sega's key divisions (e.g. Yu Suzuki of AM2 and Yuji Naka of the original Sonic Team) have left the company. How many of you remember these teams/logo's? Last edited by Lonewolf10; 01 August 2016 at 21:16. |
