Addon for mouse similar to one for keyboard
Hello, I have bought an addon for my A1200 which allows me to use a PC PS/2 keyboard with this. This addon attaches with the A1200 montherboard. I was therefore wondering if there exist a similar addon for the A1200 for the mouse and joystick, i.e. - rather than attach an adapter to the external Amiga port, a small board/circuit is attached on an internal chip of the A1200 so that input to the A1200 can be provided through a PS/2 mouse (while still having an Amiga mouse attached on the external port).
Does anyone know if such a thing is available for the A1200? Last edited by Sim085; 15 July 2018 at 16:42. |

Not that I know of. The joystick/mouse port inputs and outputs are handled by three different chips, making such a solution pretty awkward to implement. The keyboard on the other hand is just two signals, both of which are available at each of two chips, making it easy to tap into them.

Well thinking a little bit more about this, the A1200 motherboard actually provides pins where the mouse board (or cable depending on motherboard revision) is attached.
This looks to me like a one to one connection with the connector (i.e. - no chips or anything). Am I correct that for an all internal solution "all is needed" is to push the signals sent to the external mouse connector to these pins? For example I buy something like this; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MKIV-Amig...QAAOSwepJXXZ9L But rather connecting a male mouse connector I connect a female connector to fit the pins on the motherboard. Yep, that would do it, but not every A1200 has that pin header. Some have a male header (1D4), some have a female header (2B), some have no header at all. But for those boards that have such a connector, that would indeed be a neat way to do it. In fact, there are already a couple of solutions that do this:
For boards with a male header And this one for boards with a female header (though it rules out connecting a standard joystick as it replaces the 9-pin connector). |

The only problem with making an internal solution connecting to the A1200 mouse header is that you cannot connect a joystick then, unless you also incorporate a mouse/joystick switch.
