Sites like lemonamiga and lemon64 for other platforms

One thing I like to do is go to lemonamiga or lemon64, search on some criteria and then scroll through the gallery of games, then drill down on the pages and get lots of information. It's just a really easy to browse games and find interesting ones.

But can I find as nice sites for ST, ZX or other platforms? No. Are there any?

Atari Mania is pretty good for all things Atari-related.

Thanks guys, those are good options although looking at the range of options and features and content, I do kind of wish for a ubersite for all platforms with the nice nuances of the Lemon sites. The overlaid score of lemon sites is a nice addition for example.

What's really noticeable when you look at these is how much more vibrant the Amiga and C64 retro-scenes are than most other systems. On Atarimania only Dungeon Master has more than about 5 comments relating to the actual game, and even that's got barely a third of the attention it got on LemonAmiga. Spectrum Computing and World Of Spectrum probably step on each other's toes a bit too much, but have some good content - a shame there's nowhere to offer comments on games on either of them (I do recall seeing a Spectrum site where you could comment, can't recall the name right now).

It's not the same thing, but CPC Games Reviews (https://www.cpcgamereviews.com/) is a great read, and the amount of impressive recent developments shows how badly-treated that system was (though its late launch and high price compared to most 8-bits must've counted against it). Plus4World does the same, so many unofficial versions of C64 games being made in recent times.

That's simply not true. Looking at comments on these sites only is a completely pointless metric, since all the action is elsewhere (mainly on regional forums). Spectrum scene easily matches (if not beats) that of Commodore, and Atari 8-bit is not doing too bad either. CPC is maybe smaller but also quite active.

I think we're getting distracted here. I think all the platforms, even Amiga with me thinking the Lemon sites are top of the line, could get something better that takes inspiration from all of them.

The best feature about Mobygames for instance is that it is cross-platform. Literally it's best feature, I find it kind of meh otherwise, is the cross-platform screenshots page.

Lemon has forum integration, and seeing the comments from users who reflect on problems and experiences is often very helpful. Seeing the forum user rating is also good.

There's a guy on youtube that does comparisons between ports and notes which is the best and why, and flaws and so on with different versions. That'd be quite interesting too. I spent an hour trying to Monument running in one of the many CPC emulators yesterday, what a chore. That could be streamlined directly from these sites. Lot of potential for finding interesting retro games.

CPC Power is confusing but better than nothing. Unfortunately, the screenshots in the results are often not good being title screens even without the option for title screens preferred turned on. Probably lacks a good selection.

SpectrumComputing has a really good search. The results generally have both title screen and a good game screenshot. I can search for things like 3D isometric and see all the games with screenshots. Very nice.

I wouldn't consider the CPC a high price, it came with a monitor. My folks evaluated the C64,C128 and the CPC and decided on the CPC because it wouldnt hog the telly.

I'm coming around to appreciating some of these sites, like CPC Power more.

Here's a decent one for BBC Micro games.

Is there a way to get a more visual listing with screenshots? Or just the text names/dates/versions?

Yeah, it's one thing to have the off-line database for GB64 but I prefer to do random searches on the websites like Lemon64 jumping from year/publisher/genre to identify games to play. Not really fussed about comments. (download links now removed for GB64.com)

GB64 and Lemon64 was very useful to make an SD2IEC collection that was tested and wasn't just the GB64 data files with the T64 imaged games completely missing.
