That's ingame footage by the way (Hero Of The Galaxy 3d), not a title "screen"

Also, Parrot Island is an AMOS PD game.
Title screen is pretty bad, but the game itself if ok-ish if you like point n click adventures.

Remember also when the games came. Even that Seychelles beach HAM scan was tremendously great and different to anything seen on a computer screen before, and anything that wasn't scanned - well, there had been no paint program like DPaint before, virtually noone held a job as computer graphics artist and used a mouse before.

So... from 1988 to 1991 was the time period in which the game companies could hire or develop the expertise. It took about that long to develop really good dithering skill (as in the artist's technique, not scan dithering). In 1992 the good graphics started to come, and by then it was the beginning of the end...

That said, one notable example popped into my mind...

Coder graphics! Too cheap to pay an artist! Bah!

It is probably not a pure dithering in Virus title screen, I would rather say it is the "spray" tool of Deluxe Paint.
