No, because the flux is still different for the different media. It's not a matter of energy transfer but of how strong the field has to be to overcome the resistance to change in polarity.

Think of it like pushing a rock, you have to push it with a certain amount of force to get it to start moving. If the force is only half as much as needed, pushing it for twice as long won't make any difference.

By writing at half-speed though, Amiga floppy drives probably write the best, most-stable HD floppies there are, because it gives the magnetic particles more time to "settle" into their orientation.

that was exactly my reasoning - think about it:

the resistance to overcome the polarity stays exactly the same it you use and Amiga-HD-drive and modified DD disks - the same magnetic flux, the same person of time per information - only more information per length.

therefore a manipulated DD disk seams more fitting than a real HD disk, that expects a different flux

well - exactly the same time they have on a DD drive.
