ATX PSU 2 Amiga 500 case tutorial now up

Ok the project is now complete and running. I have had the power supply active for a couple of hours and it didn't melt down or blow the A1200, so all is well.

Here is a couple of pictures to whet the appetite a bit.

That's cool dude, REALLY cool!

But...I'd use some heat shrink tubing on those wires instead of tape...for longevity of your unit and more importantly for safety

Excellent way to house a PC PSU and keep "the Amiga look".

Agreed.. Use heatshrink tubing and if possible, unsolder the DC output wires from the ATX psu and solder the A500 power cable wires in their place..

Nice job though, looks much better than just laying a bare metal cased psu on the table.

I make the exact same hack on an old A500's PSU, but I use a baby AT PSU inside. When closed, nobody thinks this is not an Amiga brick.

Heres an idea for you, some of the old toshiba laptops like tecra's had a slim long power supply intergrated inside the laptop, i think someone like you could intergrate this inside an a500 and make one good cracking mod!

I'll see if i can find a piccie of one to wet the bearded ones appetite.
